Hi, Cyndy, and welcome (back)! :D

I'm happy to assign this section to you. Since I see that you've been away for awhile, you may wish to do a new one-minute test, especially if your recording setup and/or equipment has changed in that time. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you! That was quick! I've signed you up for section 6, too. Be careful with file naming, though. The section number should have a leading zero (05, not 5) because there are more than nine sections.

mightyfelix,

You suggested I do a new 1-minute test, since I've been away so long.
I completed that and posted it in the correct forum location, but thought
I'd also post the link here for you.

Strangely, my laptop did not want to allow the "Checker" program,
so I wasn't able to fully verify the volume level. Do you know if there's
another program that will do the same thing as Checker?

I'm really looking forward to lending my voice to the world again! :)

Great, thank you! I see that you've already received some feedback over on your test thread. Looks like you'll need to tweak the volume, which apparently was the one thing you were unsure of, since you couldn't use Checker. :hmm: I've never heard of anyone's system rejecting Checker. It's a pretty simple little program, as far as I understand it, so it should be compatible with most everything. But maybe if you have a firewall or anything like that, then it might think it's malware or something.

In your test thread, Adrian mentioned that you can check it by eye. Here's the kind of thing you want to see: Image
(The red lines won't show up, that's just superimposed on the image to show you what you're aiming at.)

There is another program you can try. I use it all the time. It's called ReplayGain. Adrian gave you a link to a video about it, or you can read up on it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity

Chapter 22 is ready for listening and review.

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay - just a bit chaotic here.
I did listen to this, but wasn't able to post a note.
It is very nicely read, esp. the Scottish accent. :D

Just a couple of things to take care of.
Because this is the last chapter of the book, we need to have you add at the end, "End of A Casket of Cameos, by Frank W. Boreham. "
Then leave about five seconds of silence (you have only about two). Additionally, please trim the open silence so that it is less than one second. Again you have about two.

Then upload your corrected recording with the same file name and post a note here again with the new file length.

Thank you again for the fine recording, and if you would like to read one of the remaining chapters, we'd be glad to have you.
