The Monk: A Romance by Matthew Lewis (1775 - 1818).

As one of the pioneers of Gothic fiction, this classic novel is seriously underrated. The story revolves around Ambrosio, the abbot, who is the epitome of a devout monk to the world, but in reality is the embodiment of lust and debauchery. The novel is full of creepy narrative (sporadically),surrealism, euphemisms, compelling scenes, sexual hysteria and romantic subplots. ( shreyasethi)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/files/601/601-h/601-h.htm
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK, you are ready to go! We will wait here for a day or two, just to see if we can pick up a DPL.

Aren't you nice.
Actually, my LVTDL (LibriVox To-Do List) is fairly filled up for a while.
And I much prefer to listen to a novel read by just one voice.
So I'll be cheering you on for this massive project!

Hi, being new to the forum, I don't know if I'd like to commit to DPLing a project just yet, but I would definitely be interested in PLing. I can do a volume of this book to start if you're okay with that.

I have you in as DPL for the time being, until you decide if you want to stay on to the end or not. I don't know if you have had to access the MW for the first time, so here is the LINK to the instructions for accessing for the first time. Let me know if you have any problems! If you decided not to stay, please don't feel guilty. We all understand that a full project can be a huge commitment. Just let us know, and we will advertise for someone new, there are plenty of PL'ers around here!

Moving on to Going Solo!

Thank you so much GamersThumbsR (I don't know how else to address you but I hope I'm not being too weird). I have updated the audio and also uploaded the next section thereby increasing your workload hehe :D :hmm:

PS would you mind being a little specific about the misreads, I'm sorry. I spent 7 minutes listening to the whole 15th minute looking for the stumble and I couldn't find it so I am sorry I am so daft but uh I guess I'll try to be more diligent but in the meantime please cooperate and ignore my follies :!: :(

Thats not weird at all! My name is Rebecca if that's more comfortable for you, but my username works too. I'll have a listen before the end of the weekend (but probably before the end of the day).
