The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by Omar Khayyám (1048 - 1131). Translated by E. A. Johnson (1846-1932)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-rubaiyat-of-omar-khayyam-by-omar-khayyam-4/
While the translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by Edward Fitzgerald has become the best known English language version of this classic poem, it is neither the most complete or accurate rendering of Omar's oeuvre. Among others, E.A.Johnson (also known as Johnson Pasha) spent nearly thirty years translating all 762 verses of the Lucknow Edition of the Rubaiyat. Apart from this singular publication, the life and activities of the translator remain hidden in obscurity.

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Thanks Linny

I have updated the MW and claimed the first and last sections.

Could you please remove section 9 - it will not be required.

Algy - FYI, I get "access denied" when clicking on your text links. Perhaps change the view settings to allow anyone with the link?

I have changed the share setting. I think anyone with the link should have access now.

Hi Sean

Thanks for volunteeering.

I have checked your titles on Audible, and it clear that you know your way around behind the microphone.

I can allocate these sections to you after our MC Linny has set up a catalogue page for you.

Please check the Wiki page about audio specifications before submitting your recordings:

Thanks Algy! I will look this over tomorrow morning. I have to ask, do you have pugs? Or does the username come from something else?

Algy Pug is a character in the Rupert Bear cartoon series which runs in the English Daily Express newspaper. As a child I received a Rupert Bear annual as a Christmas present, and became a lifelong fan.

Hi Algy,
This is a BC item. It's very simple to do. Open the MW. At the top where you Add new sections, and assign reader sections, you may also "Add new reader".

Let me know if you have trouble.
