Coming back to the uploaded sec. 33, I forgot to mention two things:
1) I didn’t read the footnote at page 257, since it doesn’t seem essential and, in my opinion, would only interrupt the fluidity of the speech.
2) I had some doubts concerning the pronunciation of the word “gaggia” returning many times in the following pages.
Finally I read it “gàggia” since it means crow's-nest and I think comes from the word gàgia. (see: http://www.treccani.it/vocabolario/ricerca/GAGGIA/:
“gàggia1 s. f. [dal genov. gàgia, che è il lat. cavea: v. gabbia] (pl. -ge). – 1. Nell’ant. linguaggio marin., lo stesso che gabbia, sia come vela sia come sinon. di coffa: i marinai sopra la g. de’ loro legni saliti, speculano se scoglio o terra vicina scorgono (Boccaccio)”)
