I'm finding lines for the Spirit of the Ring in Act 2 (Page 41), Act 7 (Pages 203-204), Act 8 (Pages 219-221) and Act 10 (page 296), but I find no lines for the Spirit of the Ring in Act 5. I see lots of lines for multiple Spirits of the Lamp and the Spirit of Water in Act 5, but not the ring.

Yes, you are right. It's been awhile since I first went through and marked down parts. I think my original part was to have the Spirit of the Ring read the "Two Others" lines, but then afterwards, I decided it would be simpler to assign that to a small role in the same act. At least, I think that's what happened. Anyway, I couldn't find any lines for you there, either, so I removed Act 5 from your assigned sections. Thanks!

Having done that one can I add Ali Baba in act 4 to my list (only in one scene like the other two).
I would also like to read The Old Jew in acts 2 & 3, but that may be too many claims at once.

Devorah, I am recording the spirit of the lamp right now. In Act 5 there is this scene (p. 118) where the spirit builds a palace. Am I right in assuming that I should read "First Spirit" here ? Otherwise I see no speech for my role in act 5, nothing noted "spirit of lamp". On the other hand, there are "Two others" in the same scene, other spirits that seem to help with the building. If you don't want me to act those as well, you forgot to put them as a separate role in the MW.

Waiting for clarification before I record.

also: in Act 10 I am reading "Spirits (plural) of the lamp". So if you decide to have another spirit in Act 5, maybe you should point out that they can also read those lines with me. I also included "all the spirits" speech, as I thought you would merge Ring and Lamp and whatever other spirit is hovering about in this play, in that case.

ah yes, now I see the note. Would it not be confusing to have the same voice read different roles in the exact same act ? I know usually we avoid that. And I think the roles of the others would have been prominent enough to have a separate voice (they do have a lot to say !). However, your choice but will they reappear in Act 10 then (as spirits) ? Or will I be reading that part alone ? Either way is fine with me of course.

on to act 5....the biggest for my role I suspect. Let's get that pesky palace built (it's all in a day's work)

Thanks, Sonia. Those are all in the MW. It'll take me a day or two to get to listening, probably.

I don't think it will be confusing to have them doubled, no. For one thing, they'll be speaking together as the two spirits, which tends to muffle individual voices a bit. But also the two other roles are quite short.

Act 10 also has "Wicked Spirits," "Good Spirits," and the spirit of the ring. So that should be plenty to work with.

I would like to relinquish the role of Casem. I hadn't read the script well enough to realize that this is a female role (the Sultan's daughter). May I read First Boy instead?
