Section 40:https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/anectodesofbigcats_40_wilson_128kb.mp3
Length: 03:16
In the audio, there's some weird noise from around 00:30 to 00:50 that occur only when I speak and when I try to clear it, the whole sound track is de-amplified; the biggest problem is that I am using the mic of the computer that is a good distance from my mouth, I have no idea why that happened  Wish that doesn't compromise the quality of the recording too much.

Thank you,
Guomin
Hello Guomin,
I did listen to both 39 and 40 and heard immediately the sound difficulties you are describing, although your reading style is very nice.

Rather than go through the length of both files, I am going to suggest instead that you go ahead and rerecord both of these sections using a plug in mic. They are very inexpensive and make the sound SO MUCH BETTER! I know this because of my own recordings and believe me, the difference is night and day.

When you record, please keep in mind that we must not exceed 1 second at the start of the recording.

I look forward to hearing your "new" chapters.

Time - 13:39

PL notes on Sec 01:

Your reading is fine, but I have just a couple of things:

At :25, there is a 3 second silence which is too long
At 2:13 preserve should be persevere
4:50 whether should be when
10:19 "not" is missing
Please shave 1 second from the end (we're not to exceed 5)
No Problems.

Here it is
Time 13:36

Thank you

Hello and welcome to Librivox.

I listened to your recording and wanted to give you a couple of general notes to keep in mind:

Volume needs to be somewhere between 86-92, although a mid range, about 90, would be ideal. You can check your volume using the Volume Checker (see instructions to recording). Your volume for this section was 82.7 and so needs to be corrected.

Adjustments to volume can be made 2 ways: Using the Audacity program, you can highlight the passage (or entire text) you want to amplify, click on Effects (at the top) and choose Amplify. Experiment with that a bit and you'll find the right volume. You could try it with a sample text first. The second option to adjusting volume is also within Audacity, but on the left side. You'll see a box with a mute button and a sliding scale. Highlight your text and click on that box. Again, you can check your volume with the Checker until you get it where you want it to be.

Before submitting your recording, please be sure to do a thorough job with editing, looking out for overly long silences, clicks, background noise, rustlings and awkward or jumpy passages. I thought your articulation and pacing were very good, however.

For your recording, I noted the following:

At the start, please reduce the silence to under 1 second. Ideal would be about a half second.
At the end, please increase the silence to a full 5 seconds.

When you resubmit your file with corrections, please keep the same file name.

Thank you

PL notes for section 22:

Volume is very low at 79.2 and will need to be increased (see notes above for section 21).
At the start, you are over 1 second -- please reduce to about a half second.
At :25 please insert "The Leopard as a Killer of Men"
At 1:37 ...so marked was his preference for their sex that...

Needs full 5 seconds at the end

Thank you

Crikey!
Thank you for the feedback, had a bit of trouble trying to fix it, so redid it. Please have a look and let me know if ok before doing the remaining.
Many thanks
