I accessed it on Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/7885/pg7885-images.html
Length: 6:00
This is my first Librivox recording (I have done the test however) and my name is Elizabeth Rayner.
Please let me know if this is okay! :D

Thank you, Elizabeth! Nice job! :-)

There is one issue. The volume is too low at 80.8 DB. It needs to be between 86 and 92. If you could amplify it a bit an reupload, that would be great!

kraphuk wrote: July 26th, 2020, 11:54 am Hi there,

We have recorded 'The Little Match Girl'. This is my son's first Librivox recording. :)

https://librivox.org/uploads/m8b1/csw037_littlematchgirl_ak_128kb.mp3
  • Story Name: The Little Match Girl
  • Author (birth year - death year): E. LOUISE SMYTHE (1907-1944)
  • Length in minutes: 4m 35s
  • Read by Avinash Kalaga
Nice job!

Everything is fine, except the Librivox disclaimer is missing at the beginning.

It should go as such, the bolded part being missing: The Little Match Girl by E. Louise Smythe."This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit Librivox.org"

Hi Elizabeth,

Better, but still too quiet. I see what the issue is. You have a few spikes in the recording that are preventing you from amplifying the entire file. What you will need to do is de-amplify the spikes, and then amplify the entire file. The two most prominent are at 5 seconds and at 3:53. In order to deamplify, select just where the spikes are, and slide the slider in the opposite direction, to get a negative number. Does that make sense?

If that doesn't work for you, you can try the compressor effect. Here are a couple of videos about using it:

 It is PL OK now!

One other note. If you have to makes edits in the future, be sure to use the exact same file name each time you upload! It will override the previous upload. If we don't catch that it is different, and the link in the MW is not updated, the wrong file might be cataloged!

Than you, Elizabeth!

There is one PL Note. The intro is a bit off. It should have the story title, not the book title at the beginning. (Collections like these use a different intro then regular books. :-))

It should be "Earl Mar's Daughter, edited by Joseph Jacobs" "This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit Librivox.org"

After I caught this one, I went back and checked your other two submissions to make sure I hadn't missed it in those. "The Queen of Lantern Land" is fine, but "Connla and the Fairy Maiden" has the same issue, and needs to be fixed. My apologies for not catching it initially.
