Life of Saint Gerard Majella by Rev. O. R. Vassall-Phillips (1857 - 1932).

Saint Gerard Majella, C.Ss.R. (1726 – 1755), was an Italian lay brother of the Congregation of the Redeemer, better known as the Redemptorists.

His only ambition was to be like Jesus Christ in his sufferings and humiliations. His father, Dominic Majella, died while Gerard was a child. His pious mother, owing to poverty, was obliged to apprentice him to a tailor.

After futile attempts first to become a Franciscan and then a hermit, he entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in 1749. Two years later he made his profession, and to the usual vows he added one by which he bound himself to do always that which seemed to him more perfect. St. Alphonsus considered him a miracle of obedience. He not only obeyed the orders of superiors when present, but also when absent knew and obeyed their desires. Although weak in body, he did the work of three, and his great charity earned for him the title of Father of the Poor. He was a model of every virtue, and so drawn to Our Lord in the tabernacle that he had to do violence to himself to keep away. An angel in purity, he was accused of a shameful crime; but he bore the calumny with such patience that St. Alphonsus said: "Brother Gerard is a saint".

He was favoured with infused knowledge of the highest order, ecstatsies, prophecy, discernment of spirits, and penetration of hearts, bilocation, and with what seemed an unlimited power over nature, sickness, and the devils. When he accompanied the Fathers on missions, or was sent out on business, he converted more souls than many missionaries. He predicted the day and hour of his death. A wonderworker during his life, he has continued to be the same since his death.

His intercession is sought for children, unborn children, women in childbirth, mothers, expectant mothers, motherhood, the falsely-accused, good confessions, lay brothers and Muro Lucano, Italy. (Temporary - from Wiki and the 1919 Catholic Encyclopedia)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Hi could I get chapter 11?
Of course!

Repeating most what I posted in the other thread, in case you see this post first! :-)

Welcome to LibriVox! Chapter 11 is all yours!

Please read the first post of this thread carefully.

Please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal web site/blog.

Also, since this is your first recording, we ask that you send in a 1-minute test recording. This is not an audition, it's just to make sure the sound quality and the recording settings are all right - often things can be improved at the outset that are difficult to fix later. Please go to https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test to find out what to record for your 1-minute test, and how to upload the recording. In the LibriVox Uploader, please select 'tests - tests' from the MC drop-down, and then post your test recording in the Listeners Wanted forum, rather than in this thread - you'll get feedback more quickly there.

Thank you, Valery ~ it is PL OK!

I can tell you have gotten much more comfortable with editing ~ a noticeable improvement!

Just a couple of notes: For future files, please remember to provide the run time. No worries with this one ~ I took care of it.
Also, the file should be number 00, not "intro". I fixed it on my end, so no worries! :-)

Thank you, Valery! I have assigned you 4-7. :-)

Chapters 1 and 3 are both PL OK!
Chapter 2 has a loud bang @6:16. If you could fix that, or at least deamplify that little bit, that would be great! :-)

Also, just a reminder, but I do need the run time of the files when you submit them. Don't worry about these ~ I got them when I listened.

Thank you, Valery ~ it is PL OK!

The run is just the length of the file. When you are finished editing it, just go to the end and see at what minute and second it ends at. :-)
