Hi Amy! I’d love to submit a reading for this collection. I am very new to volunteering at librivox and have a question about selections. What are the concerns about repeating stories from other collections? I was just digging through a couple of issues of Galaxy and found a couple of stories that could be fun to do, but I don’t want to just do things that have been done multiple times.
Thanks!

Hi Richard,
It is nice to have different versions of a story. We just don't keep two of the same story in one collection. Whenever that happens, one will be held for the next collection. So read whichever ones you like. We are glad to have them.
Cheers!

Hi Shelly,
The filename for this would be ssf070_venustrap_smith_sr_128kb

The information is in the opening post, but I'll put it here, too.

Posting completed recordings:
• Send your completed recording to us by using the LibriVox Uploader

http://librivox.org/login/uploader

Image

You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: alg1001

When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
For help with posting completed recordings see the How To Send Your Recording wiki page: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/How_to_Send_Your_Recording

I hope this helps.

Hi Richard,
That is an entertaining story.
I proof listened it. It is too quiet. Please amplify it by 4db and then re-upload it.
Thanks!

Hi Shelly,
Nice reading! It is great to have your first recording in this collection.
After proof listening, I have found some updates that are needed.
-Reduce the opening silence to 1 secons.
-Repeats:
57:55 “Know ye the land where the cypress”
49:24 “It’s a holly”
41:49 “Dr. Lakin and Dr. Cutler will”
32:10 “Preposterous! The tree had only been trying to cheer him up as any friend might reasonably do.”
27:11 “We have always sung the music that the wind and the rain have taught us.”
15:09 “Had he been a trifle idealistic in quitting his snug, if uninspiring, job on the faculty to join in this Utopian venture?
13:44 “He wouldn't take exception to that statement, uncharitable though it was; after all, someone whose only acquaintance with trees had been with the Terrestrial variety”
7:40 “Perhaps it wasn’t the house that disappointed her.”

If you start with the end editing these out, the timestamps won't change. For future recordings, if you give the file another listen before submitting it, you can catch all these ahead of time.
Please make these edits and resubmit it.
Cheers!
-Amy
