War-Lords of the Moon by Linton davies ( - 0).

This project is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/war-lords-of-the-moon-by-linton-davies/
Bruce Ross, on the Earth-Moon run, asked a simple question, "How are the stars behaving, Harry?" But Harrell Moore could only stare
at him in horror. For the stars had run amok—cosmic engines of destruction in the hands of the twisted genius of the Moon! A rip-snortin space shoot-em-up from 1939 with space ships, an evil genius who follows his horoscope and plans to rule everyone, ray guns, death beams (both red and green) and a diaphanously clad beautiful moon princesses in love with the hero. ( the author and phil chenevert)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/61674
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Oh wow. I remember what pulp science fiction stories were in those days. They really sound absolutely silly now but it is what it is. Commander Ross has again saved Earth and the Moon from destruction and managed to have a moon princess fall hopelessly in love with him. All in a days work I guess for the redoubtable Commander. Sorry for the short length of this story but it's enough for a nice commute listen.

My next SF will be by Leigh Brackett, my favorite female author: The Dragon Queen of Jupiter. A bit longer than this one but the writing is much better in my opinion.

Section 1
0:55 – missing word – I can’t decide if it matter so I’ll let you decide. 😉
The ship had shaken off the Earth-drag, and the speed indicator climbed fast. Eleven, twelve hundred miles an hour, the flagship of the rocket-ship fleet sped on its way to the Moon.

11:55 repeat - "Well, he was sixteen then. He'll be twenty-one, grown up. And say! Remember the Princess?{b] Illeria.[/b] She was fourteen, she'll be nineteen now. Sweet kid."

Section 2

3:05 word change - "That's right, Artana," Moore agreed. "But let me go, Chief. I'll take a couple of good men. You stay here."
"No dice, Harry," Ross assured him firmly. "I'm the head man and it's my job. I'd like to have you along, though."
"Sure," said Moore mildly.

15:44 word change - "He's also," amended Moore dryly, "got us."
"And how," grunted Ross. "How long do you suppose we'll last if we don't—"

Count me in on the next solo. :D

If you wanted to you could make this a single section. It meets the time limit.

Hi LInny. I have corrected sections 1 and 2 and uploaded them again. About combining the sections, nope. As you can tell I like recording these short stories as stand alone projects and also like shorter sections instead of long ones. I like to think of them as bite sized and easy to listen to. Just my preferences.

About you listening to future recordings, you are indeed a glutton for punishment but your help is much appreciated. Did you see the links to those 12 short North American Indian legends stories? I would like to just pass them by your ears before telling the publisher they are r eady for public consumption. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OFczpOCAInM3GjjHd4iiWSv6Cq7qpZtq?usp=sharing

Yeah, I just tell the publishers that the files are ready and in the Google docs folder that's it, nothing else is done.

Awwww. That is sweet, I had not received a notice. It's really nice to have someone like the way I read so thanks for the nudge.
