This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/black-cat-01-07-apr1896-by-various/
The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.
The seventh issue, offers the following 6 stories:
"The mystery of the thirty millions", by T. F. Anderson and H. D. Umbstaetter / ''The man at Solitaria", by Geik Turner / "The compass of Fortune", by Eugene Shade Bisbee / "A surgical love-cure", by James Buckham / "The Williamson safe mystery, by F. S. Hesseltine / "How small the World, by E. H. Mayde ( Sonia)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Claiming is restricted to one section per reader, to have the maximum of different voices in this project.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/TheBlackCatV01no12189609/The Black Cat v01no07 (1896-04)
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Ta-daaaa it's time for a new Black Cat, this time with 6 stories :9:

And as a reminder, I want to keep this as a one-story-per-reader-project so we can have the maximum of voices in each magazine.

We are open for business !

Hey, I'd like to claim section 6, please.

EDIT: The section as posted here doesn't seem to correspond to the page numbers in the book.

Greetings!
I was going to claim a section, but when I went to have a look at the text, I found that it doesn't correspond to the MW sections. Can you check?

yes the link is corrected now. Welcome to LV and to this project. I see you already passed your test and this will be your first official section  I need to open a reader page for you, so please tell me under what reader name you want to go by. Forum name or real name or pseudonym, whatever you wish.

Section 6 is reserved for you now. Anything you need to know about the correct intro and filenaming is in the first post.

Have fun !

well I leave the pronunciation up to you ;) I couldn't find anything about this author, so I don't know whether he is of English or Germanic origin (or anything else) Turner seems to point to English though, so I guess it would be geek ;) You only have to say it once, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks, this makes us fully claimed. Moving to Readers Found already.

So looking forward to hearing all your stories. :9:
