Thank you. I will put these into the magic window for proof listening. Different voices can be fun and/or challenging. I just imagine that i'm reading a story to my grandchildren and they seem to come naturally.

Chapter 10 - Sharp Eyes Meets Chunky - is PL OK.

Chapter 11 - Sharp Eyes Gets Away - has one flaw: the ending silence is under 4 seconds when it should be 5. We can't get too carried away when bending the rules. If you can edit a bit of silence onto the end of chapter 11 and upload it again it'll be fine.

Chunky does indeed sound happy.

Okay, here is a fixed Chapter 11

Also is there some easy way to ensure only a precise 5 seconds of silence? I've been recording an extra like 60 seconds to get juicy noise reduction profiles and then estimating a 5-second cut through just highlighting.

Chapter 11 is now PL OK - thanks for the fix.

It will vary with your operating system and version of Audacity, but I'm fond of the [Ctrl]-1 , [Ctrl]-2 and [Ctrl]-3 keys, which adjust the horizontal scale shown for your track(s). On my system, the [Ctrl]-2 sets the scale so about 15 seconds of my recording is the width of my screen and each second is labeled, [Ctrl]-1 and [Ctrl]-3 duplicate the 'zoom in' and 'zoom out' buttons on the toolbar - but I don't have to leave the keyboard and grab the mouse. Expanding the horizontal scale that way should give you all the information you need.

PS - expanding on the old joke, 'close' (or as you say 'precise') applies to horseshoes, hand grenades --- and the ending 5 seconds of silence in a LibriVox chapter. When I'm wearing my DPL hat I'm not going to bat an eye if the closing silence is 4.5 or 5.0 or 5.5 seconds.

I see that no one has taken chapter 6 yet. I could go and wrap that up.

Hey, so in chapter 6 there's a rooster that supposed to go "cock-a-doodle-doo"

Can I just edit in a real rooster sound effect?

You may not. Just make the sound yourself, it will be fine. :D

Thank you. Yes, I know it's nice to add sound effects but we have found it much safer to not use them because of public domain issues. But I am sure your rooster was up to snuff.

Both "Cock-a-doodle-do"s are extremely loud compared to the rest of the chapter - painfully so. They're also clipping - you drove the levels to the digital limits and beyond. It would be better if you replaced those rooster crows with a couple that weren't so loud.

Also, the file name should be
sharpeyesthesilverfox_06_barnum_128kb.mp3
not
sharpeyesthesilverfox_6_barnum_128kb.mp3

I like your Don the friendly dog voice.
