A Christmas Miscellany 2020 by Various ( - ).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-christmas-miscellany-2020/
Nine stories, chapters, or essays about Christmas or around Christmas. ( David Wales)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/oldladies00walp
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I have omitted a block of text that doesn't have to do with the Christmas story but rather with the larger narrative of the novel.
Omitted text starts on page 122 beginning "This year she was giving him..."
Omitted text ends on page 128 ending "...the dark shadow of the rising hills.
I forgot to note where in the file this omission starts - sorry (but it should be clear)
We recorded this novel earlier this year; I have re-recorded this part for the Christmas miscellany. There are a few more re-recordings in the following files.

Hi Dave, Entered metadata for 2-9. These 2 authors were not recognized by the program:

#4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpheus_Hyatt_Verrill

http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/60270

#6 bio at https://documents.alexanderstreet.com/d/1010113903

Six giants and a griffin and other stories, by Birdsall Otis Edey

http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/61619

David,
I've added the two authors to the author database. It's a huge file and it's easy to mess up the process. Try entering the metadata now and hopefully you will succeed. Let me know if you have any problem.
