I've finished story #7, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy Winkle. Sorry for the delay and thank you for the extension!philchenevert wrote: ↑May 24th, 2020, 3:09 pm Peter Rabbit and other Tales by Beatrix Potter (1866 - 1943).
These are some of the wonderful little stories about animals written by Beatrix Potter. The disobedient little Peter who sneaks where he should not go and gets into a scary situation is just one of her nifty tales. Who can't sympathize with the woes of Jemima Puddle-duck or laugh at squirrel Nutkin in his misadventures of searching for nuts. This is storytelling at its best: warm and fuzzy and sometimes with a moral for little ears. And the illustrations are just outstanding too. They are all short and easy to read so any new LibriVox recorder can have fun with just about any of them. ( Phil Chenevert)
- How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
- New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
- Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Very well read in section 7! Such a pleasure to listen to you, Rina
There is only one thing to fix in the file, and that is to make it mono. I don't know if you use Audacity, but if you do this is how to fix it. Select both tracks. Click Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo down to Mono. To change the setting for future recordings, go to Edit > Preferences > Devices. Under Recording, change Channels to "1 (Mono)".
Please save the recording with the same file name, upload again and post in this thread. Great job

Section 15 The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes has been put back into the pool for anyone to claim. This is the very last unclaimed story in this collection.

Hi all. Story 15, The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes, coming in for PL:
https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/peterrabbitandothertales_15_potter_128kb.mp3 @ 10.30
It's rather an odd little one, apparently written for the US market and not very well known in the UK. It includes American Animals such as chipmunks and a bear, but still has British spellings such as "grey squirrel" as well as British words like 'Fortnight".
I actually find it pretty shocking to come across a bear in a Beatrix Potter story.
