Here is my act 1

I couldn't believe it when I finished, that just my part was this long.

Well, you are the character the play is named after.

It will take a while for The Cheat - the other character the play is named for (in English) - to show up and take over.

Thanks, Todd

yes that's the fate of all the main characters  but you are really shining here in this role. I like the quite mocking undertone you mostly have throughout the act  I guess it's absolutely how the original would have sounded.

just a small snippet here:

> at 19:01: (p. 275) repeat "I know that" - can be cut out once

oh and this is optional, but the other readers all say "read by" instead of "played by" in the voice credit. Doesn't matter much, only giving you the option if you want to say it the same way than the others

Thanks, looking forward to the next act

POLYMACH.. POLY.. POL..POLYMACHA.. POLYMACHAEROPLAGIDES okay sure no problem saying that :|

Here they are finally! Sorry for delivering on deadline again and not before.

Kitty, last time I recorded you asked for a louder recording. I am a little confused about the numbers, all librivox references are about numbers in the 80s and 90s of decibels, but all recording software I have use more relative db metering - all levels are -5, -10, 0, etc (more than 0 not advised). Do you know what the correct librivox levels are with that system? I have a fairly advanced recording software for recording music, and I can get it to show me LUFS, RMS, peaks/averages, K10 K20 etc but nothing shows me "86db" or similar :hmm: Or else, you could tell me how you measure the audio yourself and Ill figure it out. It's not a problem to re-export these if they are wrong again.

I think 0 on many audio instrument scales is ~the desired 87 dB. I confess I use the "Replay Gain" analysis in Audacity and just do what it tells me (like +1.3 or -4.0, etc). I think Checker is more complete and accurate but I don't have it.

Since your files are going to be edited into the master files for the acts, it isn't critical that you be at the exact dB level as you be if your files were going into the catalog exactly as you uploaded it. I am going to play with the levels of the pieces of everyone's files to get the final mix that I think works best, and when I edit, I do it by ear - so long as I don't get the dreaded "clipping" line indication. I need no clipping in your inputs either - that can't be fixed by me once you export it into an mp3. Levels can be very low and I can amplify them, but then they often have a buncha noise in them, and that doesn't sound nice.

Thanks, Todd

There are a collection of "VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR LIBRIVOX" in the "Need help? Got advice?" Forum. I have found some of them useful in sorting out my recording and editing problems. I also had problems originally relating the levels in Audacity to the required dB levels for Librivox.

 you did an excellent job with that tongue-twister. I remember I had to say it myself, but only once I think. Took a bit of practice. Adrian did it well too.

In fact the whole performance was absolutely stunning. In the beginning you are really a brutal slave-owner and sound like you enjoy the beatings. Later on in the verbal abuse scene you are quite cool and unfazed  and then in the end, exasperated to be duped after all when the whole scheme dawns on you. Great characterization throughout.

sorry I'm no specialist in these matters. I use the Checker to see what the volume is. If it fails the recording with, say 80 dB, I simply calculate up to the desired average of 89 and go back to my file and amplify with +9 and that's it. Here is the checker, you can use it for your files as well: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

It also tells you other settings that may be wrong...

> in fact, all your files are in stereo instead of mono. Could you change these settings please for all three and reupload again ?

Other than that, Acts 3 and 4 have no errors, but I found a few notes for Act 1:

> at 4:35: (p. 263) "who spend your time with illustrious men in refinements" – I hear "tins" if I'm not mistaken :hmm:
> at 10:43: (p. 268) "your wealth defunct" – you say "defuned"

thanks ! I really enjoyed it.

brilliant job Jason, totally PL ok. You're making my job easy and enjoyable here. :9: The plot thickens and so does the mischief in your voice

Excellent, I think that means Act 2 is ready for final assembling. All the roles are in for that act.

Thanks, and looking forward to the next act...

thank you, Acts 3 and 4 now in mono and PL ok.

The corrections in Act 1 have been made, but now there is a blank gap in the first 3 and a half minutes  Where has your audio disappeared to ?

That means Acts 2 and 3 are ready to edit !
