yes that's the fate of all the main characters but you are really shining here in this role. I like the quite mocking undertone you mostly have throughout the act I guess it's absolutely how the original would have sounded.jasonb wrote: ↑June 4th, 2020, 11:48 pmHere is my act 1

I couldn't believe it when I finished, that just my part was this long.
There are a collection of "VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR LIBRIVOX" in the "Need help? Got advice?" Forum. I have found some of them useful in sorting out my recording and editing problems. I also had problems originally relating the levels in Audacity to the required dB levels for Librivox.Fongie wrote: ↑June 9th, 2020, 9:49 am Kitty, last time I recorded you asked for a louder recording. I am a little confused about the numbers, all librivox references are about numbers in the 80s and 90s of decibels, but all recording software I have use more relative db metering - all levels are -5, -10, 0, etc (more than 0 not advised). Do you know what the correct librivox levels are with that system? I have a fairly advanced recording software for recording music, and I can get it to show me LUFS, RMS, peaks/averages, K10 K20 etc but nothing shows me "86db" or similar Or else, you could tell me how you measure the audio yourself and Ill figure it out. It's not a problem to re-export these if they are wrong again.

just a small snippet here:
> at 19:01: (p. 275) repeat "I know that" - can be cut out once
oh and this is optional, but the other readers all say "read by" instead of "played by" in the voice credit. Doesn't matter much, only giving you the option if you want to say it the same way than the others
Thanks, looking forward to the next act

you did an excellent job with that tongue-twister. I remember I had to say it myself, but only once I think. Took a bit of practice. Adrian did it well too.
sorry I'm no specialist in these matters. I use the Checker to see what the volume is. If it fails the recording with, say 80 dB, I simply calculate up to the desired average of 89 and go back to my file and amplify with +9 and that's it. Here is the checker, you can use it for your files as well: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/CheckerKitty, last time I recorded you asked for a louder recording. brilliant job Jason, totally PL ok. You're making my job easy and enjoyable here. The plot thickens and so does the mischief in your voicejasonb wrote: ↑June 18th, 2020, 1:58 amHere is Act 2

Thanks for the kind words! And sorry about the delay (again). Here is act 1 fixed and all three reuploaded in mono (oops)Kitty wrote: ↑June 10th, 2020, 4:53 amyou did an excellent job with that tongue-twister. In fact the whole performance was absolutely stunning. In the beginning you are really a brutal slave-owner and sound like you enjoy the beatings. Later on in the verbal abuse scene you are quite cool and unfazed and then in the end, exasperated to be duped after all when the whole scheme dawns on you. Great characterization throughout.

It also tells you other settings that may be wrong...

Other than that, Acts 3 and 4 have no errors, but I found a few notes for Act 1:
> at 4:35: (p. 263) "who spend your time with illustrious men in refinements" – I hear "tins" if I'm not mistaken
> at 10:43: (p. 268) "your wealth defunct" – you say "defuned"
thanks ! I really enjoyed it.

thank you, Acts 3 and 4 now in mono and PL ok.
