The Life of St. Hilarion by Saint Jerome (347 - 420). Translated by Philip Schaff (1819 - 1893)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-life-of-st-hilarion-by-saint-jerome/

St. Hilarion (291–371 AD) was an anchorite who lived most of his life in the desert after the example of St. Anthony the Great (251–356 AD). He is considered to be the founder of Palestinian monasticism and venerated as a saint by the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church. He was born in Gaza to pagan parents. After successfully studying rhetoric in Alexandria, he converted to Christianity. After which, he shunned the pleasures of his day, the theatre, circus and arena, and spent his time going to church. Upon hearing of St. Antony and his way of life he purposed to become a monk, first spending time in Egypt and then returning to Gaza. ( summarized version of Wikipedia)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf206/npnf206.vi.ii.html
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Great! I'm glad you can DPL. DPLs aren't always easy to find.

Anyway, if you're a St. Hilarion fan, I better do a decent job with the recording then.

I put the first one up there. I'll add more on Monday.
