COMPLETE[PLAY]The Double Dealer by Congreve - thw
Naps are good things.
Thanks, Todd
Thanks, Todd
excellent performance as coquette, Devorah I especially love the laughs in the final act where she is so warmly flirting with Brisk. You will be in stark contrast with hubby Froth, but I think that will sound brilliant together, it's what comedy is all about.mightyfelix wrote: ↑June 25th, 2020, 3:08 pmHere's Lady Froth.

Now I solved the mystery of the file confusion. The acts are all correctly named, but Todd forgot to add a section for Act 3, which I did now. Also you merged the speeches of Acts 4 and 5 together into Act 4. (you should have taken that nap )
Acts 2 and 3 are already PL ok.
PL notes for Acts 4 and 5:
> from 2:03 till the end: "my dear, Mr Brisk and I.... ": these lines belong into Act 5, could you cut them here and do a new file please ? Also reupload the shortened file for Act 4 please, it will make matters easier.
> at about 3:02: missed ALL line: "What's the matter ?"
Thanks
Sonia
Ah, so I needed to be a napping person too....
Thanks, Todd

Ohh, there was a whole 'nother act, was there?
What would we do without Sonia?

Headless chickens running aimlessly around is the only image that comes to my mind.
Thanks, Todd
there was indeed.
Now both are PL ok. Thanks, Devorah.

Here's Cynthia for Acts 4 and 5, and the corrected Act 2!

Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomine tuo da glorium!
thank you, super, Lydia. Cynthia is really the fresh air in the play (although a bit mischievous as well ) nicely played
Acts 2 and 5 are straight PL ok. Though the volume in the added song is quite low, but Todd will adjust volumes anyway. I'll make a note.
Just a very small snip to make in Act 4:
> at 0:36: stumble and repeat "we... we hunt in couples" – the first we can be cut
there is a strange grumbling undertone in your entire recording, I wonder what background noise that was. Did you record in a different environment this time ? I didn't notice it last time.
Sonia
Here's Cynthia's corrected act 4!
I'm not sure what the background sound is. I did record in a different room this time, though.

thank you, PL ok now. Maybe it was a plane passing overhead, but it went on for quite some timeLydiaCW wrote: ↑July 1st, 2020, 6:07 pmHere's Cynthia's corrected act 4!

Sir Paul awaits in the MW, confused as always, my lady.
Thanks, Todd
Thanks, Todd
I love the double-entendres he constantly uses. This guy is actively working towards cuckoldom, but it's somehow endearing (in a pathetic sort of way). Great job, Todd. I think our two opposite temperaments will work quite well in the dialogues
Acts 1, 2 and 3 are already PL ok.
for Act 4:
> at 8:12: "where is my son Mellefont" – can get cut out here, you already had it a few lines earlier
for Act 5:
> at about 3:25: "What's the matter ?" – you missed the ALL line, maybe you want to be included in that confusion as well
thanks, highly entertaining !
Sonia
Do they count as double entendres if the character and his reader are both just clueless?
To show how clueless, I just opened both acts 4 and 5 in Audacity. I fixed 4, and then exported the unfixed 5 (instead of 4) to mp3. I closed 4, fixed 5, and exported 5 again. Went to upload and discovered that I had no new 4 but just two new 5s. Rewind the brain, try again.... Hopefully right at this point.
I hope that "somehow endearing (in a pathetic sort of way)" doesn't become my epitaph. Or is it one of those double epithets?
Thanks, Todd

ok probably not...they are unintentional double-entendres then, at least for the audience I was smirking at every pun, and I bet I have missed some still.
ok you made me dizzy with this explanation well the end result is what counts and the links in the MW are totally PL ok now.To show how clueless, I just opened both acts 4 and 5 in Audacity. let me try, how about this:I hope that "somehow endearing (in a pathetic sort of way)" doesn't become my epitaph. Or is it one of those double epithets?
Here lieth Todd, our editor-in-chief
Mourned by his drama crew in grief
He stitched together full many a piece
But now lies here and rests in peace
Pinero, Molière, Congreve and Calderon...
Todd staged them all, just bring them on !
The roles he played - forget we won't
As villain he laughed, as husband he groaned
To wrap it all up, he was, let us say:
Somehow endearing, in a pathetic sort of way.
