Sharp Eyes, the Silver Fox is another tale of adventure that follows a young silver fox from his birth in the woods of England, through training by his parents in how to survive, to some rather bad mistakes he makes leading to his capture, travelling with a circus and finally being placed in a zoo and, I am glad to say, his escape and return home.      Need noise-cleaning?
     Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

     128 kbps MP3
     sharpeyesthesilverfox_##_barnum_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. sharpeyesthesilverfox_01_barnum_128kb.mp3)

Well first of all thanks for your generous offer! As you are finding out, your offer is new to us and I am trying to configure something that will allow us to use your talents. When a volunteer uploads a section, the obligation for editing and being sure it is as good as they can get it, rests on them. Any fixes found necessary by the proof listener are posted and the recorder is responsible for making the repair and uploading it again. So your offer of editing/mixing files would add another layer to the process and I just don't know where it might fit. If you edit a file before it is proof listened, then where would any errors that the proof listener finds be sent? to you or to the recorder? If you edit a file after it is proof listened, then the proof listener woujld need to listeen to the whole file again. Perhaps I am not understanding your generous offer so please give me some feedback on how you think it would work.

On another aspect of this, I would like to send you some of my raw and finished files to mix/edit to get a feel of your approach. How would I do that? Don't give up on us.

The changes I would make would be largely aesthetic (make the audio sound more 'professional'). This means I would not make any changes that would affect the verdict of a proof listener, so said proof listener would not need to listen to the audio again after I worked with it. Basically, I'm saying it would make the most sense for the audio to be sent to me after the proof listening. I would then give the treated files to the uploader, who may or may not give me feedback on my changes. Essentially, I would be the second-last link in the chain.

As for 'editing' duties, I think that should be given to the recorders, as I will be analysing the audio on a sonic level, rather than judging which delivery is the best. If, however, you insist that I edit as well, I'm more than capable of doing so. Just know that the time I give the audio files back will be around tripled.

Chapter 1 - Sharp Eyes Sees Something - is just barely outside the LibriVox volume range. The program "Checker" calls it out as too quiet. If you amplify it by 3 dB and re-submit it you'll have it right in the middle of the allowable range. Everything else about the chapter is A-OK.
