Best,
Hello! Yes, you can! I see you are already working on your one-minute test, which is great. I suggest you iron out all problems there before diving into Seneca. But the sections are assigned to you, thanks.

Duration is 22:17.
Hi, Latraviata:

Lovely reading! You sound like a professional. I really enjoyed listening to Sections 1 and 2. There is an issue with the volume of the files. Section 1 is 80.2 dB, and Section 2 is 76.5 dB. The acceptable range is 87-91 dB, and we aim for 89 dB. You can adjust the input volume before recording to avoid using the amplify feature in Audacity during post-processing. The input volume is the level at which your recording device is receiving your voice while you read. You want to avoid having it set too low or too high. For more information on how to set the input volume, visit this page in the LibriVox wiki.

Adjusting the input volume will help in the future, but the sections you have already recorded will need to be either amplified or de-amplified depending on the file's volume. Check the volume via Checker. In Audacity, select the whole recording. Click Effect > Amplify. In the Amplification box, enter the number of dB you want to amplify or de-amplify by (in this case, +8.8 for Section 1 and +12.5). Verify that both files are around 89 dB using Checker (see the "Information" tab).

Section 2 has a repeat at 18:34 that needs to be edited out ("Let each man have some peculiarity about his gift . . . Let each man have some peculiarity about his gift"). Also, I heard "Section 15" instead of "Chapter 15" as you had been saying previously at 19:43, and the file needs 5 seconds of silence at the end (it currently has 3 seconds of silence at the end).

Please edit and re-upload. Post in this thread when the files are ready for spot PL. Thanks so much.

Section 10, Book 4, chapters 1 - 9, Complete. 17 minutes, 37 seconds.

Please note that I ran it in checker program before editing and it passed at 87 db. After I edited, it passed with a warning at 85.3 db. I didn't amplify it in Effects for fear that it would make it too loud.

I have the copy so I can amplify it if you prefer, just let me know.

Hi, Tracy:
Section 10 sounds great. You are correct that it is too quiet at 85.3 dB (we aim for 89 dB). Could you please amplify the file and re-upload using the same file name? Post in this thread when you are ready for a spot PL. Thanks so much. Love your voice, by the way!

Hi! I hope you're doing well. I've uploaded the fourth section again. I couldn't find PL notes anywhere but as discussed before, the volume was too low so I've amplified it.
It's duration is 21:16. If there are any other changes, please let me know

I think there were PL notes in one message above, but I couldn't find them either :hmm: Let's wait for cadastra to clear the doubt, but thanks!

Here's the link:

(ps the checker passed it with warnings I don't know if that's okay or not.)
Thanks,
Shreya

Hi, Shreya:
Sorry for the delay in posting the PL notes. I was working on typing them up when I got called away from my computer. See PL notes below.

Section 4 PL notes:
08:25 Parts of words missing ("consular rank kissing")
Volume too low at 85.8 dB (87-91 dB acceptable) - amplify in Audacity using Effect > Amplify; enter +3.2 dB in the amplification box

Section 5 PL notes:
07:29 Prolonged silence ("not whether they should . . . be slaves")
