Hi Anna! Welcome to the Poetry Collection And congrats on your first recording!

I see that you are addressing the tech specs in your test recording, so I won't get into any details, except if you need more guidance of course.
The changes that are required for this recording are: some amplification, about 6dB, then to export to mp3, with a constant bit-rate of 128 kbps, and add the suffix _128kb in the file name when exporting. Do you use Audacity? Let me know, I could give you a step-by-step guide if needed. Otherwise, when ready, reupload and we'll check again

Hello!

I'd like to submit the following recording of The Lake, by Edgar Allan Poe. I'm certainly not the first to tackle this one for Librivox, but it's one of my all-time favourites and seemed like a good choice for my first official submission. (Plus I also used it to record my one minute test, so I've had all kinds of practice reading it lately.)

I've recorded a prose poem, and no-one on the discussion board seemed sure if prose poems go into the poetry or short story collections. It was suggested I ask here.

The piece I'd like to do is "Levana and the Ladies of Sorrow" by Thomas De Quincey. My copyright clear source is buried in a collected works volume on Archive, but if you'd like to review the text, it's conveniently separated off on Bartleby at https://www.bartleby.com/27/22.html

What do you think? Poem or short story?

It's funny you should mention the bartleby link. Bartleby lists it under non-fiction, and not verse, it being in a book of essays I suppose. We could go by Bartleby's judgement and treat it as a non-fiction text for the non-fiction collection.

But yes, between poem and short story, I would say short story.
