Stories of the Ships by Lewis Freeman (1878 - 1960).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/stories-of-the-ships-by-lewis-r-freeman/
While most associate the "Great War" with trenches, barbed wire, machine guns, and poison gas, ships played roles in the military at the beginning of the 20th century. Stories of the Ships is a 1919 collection of accounts described in the first person by those who fought battles on the sea during World War I. It gives the listener a more complete account of the conflicts that defined the most costly war in history. Lewis Ransome Freeman (1878 – 1960) was an American explorer, journalist and war correspondent who wrote over twenty books chronicling his many travels, as well as numerous articles. He became a lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1917-18. He was a correspondent attached to the Grand Fleet late in the war, and was a staff member for the Inter-Allied Naval Armistice Commission which traveled to Germany in 1918. • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Yes, and I was going to write to you. I didn’t catch the bug, but my routine is in tatters due to having committed myself to the college in a project that has 4 of us working at our homes connected only by Zoom. I think you should cancel it, remove it from the board. I hate loose ends, and will get back into it if COVID-19 will give us a break. I hope you are okay. I’ve only lost 1 friend from the virus.

Please delete it, not due to a loss of interest, but due to a lack of time.

Kindest regards,

Jeffery

Best of luck. A day filled with Zoom meetings sounds pretty exhausting. It likely will be a few weeks before I take any action on this project as LV is rather busy right now.

I'm sorry Mr. Smith couldn't record this. Please tell him I'll do my best and am very much looking forward to this book, WWI fanatic that I am. The former librarian in me lusts after publication dates and brief author bios so I added a bit to the book description. Will begin recording tomorrow. And section titles soon.
Peace, David
