Our 89th Short Story Collection is of exceptionally high quality. In addition to perennial favorites, such as Kate Chopin and Mark Twain, our Librivox readers have delved into the more esoteric, with a translation of a Polish tale, a story by Rabindranath Tagore and Charles Henkle. ( )

Dale, The text link doesn't work.I need to check the text. The only Frieda Summerfield I can find was born in 1915... so she would have been 9 in 1924. Also different spelling from the one you gave :hmm:

The story is on page 28 of

Ten Story Magazine is part of the
Snappy, Spicy, and Girlie Pulps | Est. in 1922-39 | King; DM, et al | Ed. by Various | Total Issues: < 1000

Unfortunately, the Pulp Magazine Project is not set up with an address which will take one directly to the story. And it is not listed on the title index at the front of the magazine. I actually found it by accident.

Dale,
Sorry to say this is t an acceptable text. Anything post 1924 has to be approved by Project Gutenberg.. Just because the magazine says it’s PD, doesn’t make it so.

Sorry about that, Lynette and Cheryl. I need to be more conscious of the publication dates of the pulp magazines. But the reason I like them is that the stories are, for the most part, “new”, that is, not picked over, as much of the Gutenberg stories are becoming. I don’t really want to record the 17th version of a Kurt Vonnegut story.
