This 3rd volume of the Marie Antoinette Romances begins a decade after the close of "The Mesmerist’s Victim” and is based on a real scandal in Louis XVI’s court, commonly called “The Diamond Necklace Affair.” In this volume, the plotting of a powerful occultist, Count Cogliostro (or “Balsamo”), collides with the long-festering resentments of a previous royal house, Jeanne de Valois (de la Motte), a growing popular movement for sociopolitical reform, and a shrinking supply of bread. It is easy to see how converging sociopolitical challenges can threaten the monarchy, but how can the court of Louis XVI overcome these challenges amidst a famine? After all, in the words of his economic advisor, Turgot de l'Aulnes, “Ne vous mêlez pas du pain” (One must not meddle with bread)! (jvanstan)

Thanks, John. Things are o.k. with me, just busy. Sections 11 through 28 are PL OK unless you want me locate the places where you've done your thing of using Spanish pronunciation on the French name "de Lamballe" [de lahm 'bahl le] https://www.howtopronounce.com/french/de-lamballe . I'm pretty sure we pronounce it more or less like that in English, too, though without the authentic French accent and positioning of our oral musculature. I'll mark the files in the mw later.

I just saw that you've uploaded a new song I'll listen to later. I'm Tricianienna at YouTube. I haven't managed to get a photo uploaded there though I've tried. I might ask you to help with that sometime since you've succeeded.

Yes, everything is o.k., hope they are with your family. At least I don't think you need to worry much about serious illness from the virus at your ages. I'm in the age range considered vulnerable to serious illness, maybe death, if we catch it, but I'm considerably below the average age of those who have died of it. I haven't been sick a day since long before the pandemic started, but I wear a mask out of doors to reduce the speed and trajectory of breath droplets towards others just in case I might have the virus without symptoms, and it's the law here. Our heavy lock down with only essential stores and such open was lifted in June, but I never let it stop me from going out to shop for myself and a couple of friends who can't for reasons totally unrelated to covid, and to feed the street cats normally fed by my friend Hilary who's laid up from a surgeon's mistake in her hip replacement.
