Occasionally I read the character's name in addition to [Aside], because the [Aside] came at the end of the line, but it was clear that the whole line was an aside. I can remove such additions easily. Dave

That reading is exactly correct. I don't know why they put [aside] after the words that area aside, but it happens quite often in the scripts.dlantz wrote: ↑June 6th, 2020, 4:23 pm Act 2 stage directions: length 2.25, size 2.25 MB (coincidence!)

thank you, Dave, for all the stage directions. And while it's correct that often the asides come at the end even they should be at the beginning, unfortunately in this play, this wasn't very often the case I found a lot that could be cut and it would be easier for Todd if he got a cleaned file to copy/paste, so I hope you don't mind cutting them. (so sorry you again did too much work)
I took the trouble to write them all out (took me ages LOL) Best again to start at the final PL note, otherwise all the time stamps will change for you.
One further comment (for your next stage directions, if you still want to so some) on such things as "goes out", "gives letter", "draws". Such "actions" often happen really only AFTER the speech, so there was no need to always say the name of the character. (the difficulty is mostly only with the word "aside") I also pointed those out, where I think they can get cut. That's why the list is quite long, sorry about that:
for Act 2:
> at 0:26: "aside" - here you can cut "Cynthia" as it's only the second sentence that will be said as aside. The first one is clearly a reply to Lady Froth.
> at 0:42: "squeezes him..." also here, I think this doesn't have to come at the beginning
> at 0:53: "gives him a pocket-glass" - also here
> at about 1:16: can you insert "Song" here please, so we have this as title, so Todd can decide whether he wants to use it in the end or not (depends on whether the song is recited or sung)
for Act 3:
> at 0:15: "please visit librivox.org" - you say "see", which is optional surely, I just found it odd since I'm so used to standard reading LOL
> at 0:41: "aside" - you can cut "Maskwell" here, it's only the last sentence that is the aside. A dash -- usually tells you this differentiation
> at 1:20: "courtesies" - "Lady Plyant" can be cut, this courtesy only happens later in her speech
> at 1:43: "cries" - "Sir Paul" can get cut
> at 1:59: "aside" - "Cynthia" can be cut, it's only the second sentence that is the aside
> at 2:16: "pulls out paper" - Lady Froth can get cut
> at 2:21: missed line "reads" - later on you have correctly "Lady Froth reads" but here you have to say "reads" once alone, since she starts reading at the end of her speech (you missed "Lord Froth sings" a bit later, but we can leave that out as I know that Alan sang the song )
for Act 4:
> at 0:30: "Careless, sighing" - you have two versions, is there one you prefer ? You can cut out one
> at 0:45: "aside" - "Careless" can be cut" since he is talking already
> at 0:49: "aside" - same here, Careless can be cut
> at 0:53: "cries" - Lady Plyant can get cut, she cries at the end of the speech
> at 0:57: "aside" - same here, Careless can be cut
> at 0:59: "gives her a note" - Careless can get cut
> at 1:10: "aside" Lady Plyant can get cut, it's the final sentence only that is the aside
> at 1:29: "bows and gives letter" - Sir Paul can get cut
> at 1:34: "aside" "lady plyant" can be cut
> at 2:28: "aside" - Brisk can be cut (only the speech in brackets is the aside)
> at 2:58: "to her" - Brisk can get cut, as the first part is clearly said to Lord Froth
> at about 3:10: missed line "reads" (inside Sir Paul's speech)
> at 4:14: "kisses her" - Maskwell can be cut
> at 4:17: "goes to the door" - Lady Touchwood" can be cut
> at 4:27: "Lady Touchwell" can be cut (it's Touch-wood, not -well, anyway - but it made me laugh as that name would have been fitting too)
> at 4:31: "offers to draw" - Mellefont can be cut
> at 4:35: "runs out" - Maskwell can be cut
> at 5:15: "draws and runs..." - Lord Touchwood can be cut
for Act 5:
> at 1:32: "going" - Cynthia can be cut
> at 2:03: "aside" - Maskwell can get cut, the first part he says aloud
> at about 2:28: two missed lines: "Maskwell, within" and "Lady Touchwood, within"
> at about 2:48: missed line: "gives the dagger"
> at about 4:02: you forgot the final end disclaimer for the last act: "End of The Double Dealer, by William Congreve"
thank you. Oh and Act 1 is now PL ok

I noticed... It nearly made me wild too
The narrator has a difficult call to make in every stage direction line (especially with the asides) so basically, it's really reading the text they have to say and considering which is spoken as aside or not. Which is why this takes some time, and why it took me so long to write it all up. I had to read the whole text and make a judgement call on each part. (luckily you had some parts correctly, so I didn't have to write them all up)

I'm very sorry, again, that Sonja had so many repairs to make on my files. I hope I've made all the necessary changes.

Thank you. It gets easier as your understand the different playwrights' script conventions.

Acts 2, 4 and 5 are now PL ok. Though Act 2 is only at about 83 dB. But no need to reupload, Todd will adjust volumes anyway in the editing phase. I'll make a note in the MW.dlantz wrote: ↑June 9th, 2020, 12:13 pmAct 3: length 2:48, size 2.64 MB

For Act 3 you seem to have forgotten to make the changes (apart from the intro) or maybe you uploaded the wrong file
these previous notes are still unchanged:
