Hi:

I can't find it in Gutenberg either

Stephen Crane (November 1, 1871 – June 5, 1900) He's been dead more than 100 years.

https://archive.org/stream/short_ghohor_008_librivox/crane_black_dog_djvu.txt

Thanks

Yes, it was the same reason as last time! I don't know why it keeps happening! But thank you for letting me know so I could fix it!

Hello Weezer! Oh, yes, they were great recordings!

Here are the 4 posts about the recordings, in the previous Ghost and Horror Collection: viewtopic.php?p=1710395#p1710395

So, "Keesh, Son of Keesh" is now in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/short-ghost-and-horror-collection-038/

and "Crowned with One Crest" has been forwarded to the Short Story Collection, here: viewtopic.php?p=1723500#p1723500

Alright! I manage to find it, published in the "New York Tribute", July 24th 1892
https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030214/1892-07-24/ed-1/seq-19/

For US copyright laws, it doesn't matter when the author died, but when the work was published. That the story has already been recorded for Librivox is a good indication that it is OK, but finding the original scan makes me feel much much better
Thank you, Dale!

Rapunzelina -

I uploaded the following horror story:

Title: The Scarecrow by G. Ranger Wormser
Text URL: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/40027/40027-h/40027-h.htm#THE_SCARECROW
Duration: 21:28
MP3 URL: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor039_scarecrow_wormser_dwd_128kb.mp3

I tried looking for more information on the author, Wormser, but I couldn't find a Wikipedia article about her or anything about her. I also might've erred on the pronunciation of her name. If that needs to be redone, just let me know!

Hi everybody,

I recorded "A Diagnosis of Death" by Ambrose Bierce.

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor039_diagnosisofdeath_bierce_sm_128kb.mp3

The recording is 8 minutes and 36 seconds long. Let me know if you need me to make any edits!

Hi:

The Black Dog
By Stephen Crane
Read by Dale Grothmann
Time 13:45

Audio at --https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor039_theblackdog_crane_dg_128kb.mp3

Text at --http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7239

This is probably from an oral history originally.

Thanks
Dale
At around 10:05 there is a repetition "It was a shriek". Everything else is great! Thank you, Dale!

Thank you, Daniel! PL OK! That was quite scary to me, as I have a small fear of scarecrows. I think it's called formidophobia. I felt for Benny!

The author was already in the catalogue, with this information:

G. Ranger Wormser (1893 - 1953)
Gwendolyn Ranger Wormser was a Victorian writer best known for her weird psychological horror stories.

Hi Spen! Welcome to Librivox and to this collection!
Thank you for your recording! All nice and well! PL OK!

I'll only mention that I'll use the gutenberg ebook as text source http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4366 as Gutenberg is our number one choice for public domain texts!

Hi:

Thank you for finding that. I have made the correction and reloaded it.

All else should be the same.

Thanks
Dale

Thank you, Rapunzelina! I learned a new word, "formidophobia"! I just found that story by accident and was pleasantly surprised by the subdued nature of its horror. Thank you again, for PLing it!

Here's The Premature Burial by Edgar Allan Poe, more scary that any made-up monster, if you think about it
