[solo] The Heart of Mid-Lothian by Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832).

This project is now complete. All files may be found at https://librivox.org/the-heart-of-mid-lothian-by-sir-walter-scott/

An historical novel set in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1736, about a violent public protest of government actions, and an in-depth look at the legal, social and religious lives of various characters of that time, intertwined with a romantic tale of two sisters.( Deon Gines)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6944
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Wow I waited for this novel for ages. What a lovely solo, good luck. I will read it when it's complete. So you have one sure listener.
Love gothic novels? Try Children Of The Abbey. Like surprising mysteries? Try The Amathist Cross. Looking for an easy read? Try Harriet's Choice.

This chapter, with very minor changes in details, could be read in this morning's paper!

Scott uses * and notes in this chapter, some of which I've included, if I thought it contributed to the story. Please suggest changes as you think work, as we go along.
