hi OK ILL ADJUST 24 WAS PROBABLY AS I HADNT GOT HEADPHONES ON WHEN ADJUSTING SO SOUNDED LOW BUT ILL ADJUST

The volume still looks the same to me. Are you familiar with Checker (https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker)? It's the easiest way to check your volume.

OK no I am not familiar with it but I will have a look and try again when I listened to both sections after adjusting vól of 24 they both sounded the same but I'll check it again

Hi I adjusted volume and ran checker and said cleared validation so hoping its ok now also is there a way of checking volume levels on audacity or is it hit an miss read some of the form notes and most said there is an add on replaygain that checks levels . or is checker better?

Thank you Kate for this file. I will mark it for Spot Check. I probably already sent you this but if not, here is a little video on estimating volume level in Audacity by just using our eyes; watching the wave form is great information and can be very accurate once you get used to it. This is all I ever use now but then I have a lot of experience 8-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9WF82rf81o

Replay and Checker are great but this is what I use everyday.

Hi Phil. Thanks for that spent most of the day reading articles on volume abmnd downloaded the mp3 gain and checker software so hoping hill get it right for next time thanks for the video link

I prefer to use Checker but it's up to you. If you click on the information tab in Checker you should be able to see the exact specifications. The file is now at 86 dB, which is below the preferred limit of 87. If you amplify it by 2 dB in Audacity you should see it go up to 88 in Checker.
