A Lost Lady by Willa Sibert Cather (1873 - 1947).
This project is now complete. All file are in the catalog: https://librivox.org/a-lost-lady-by-willa-sibert-cather-2/
Charismatic Marian Forrester, the wife of a railroad pioneer, captures the heart of every person she meets. Niel Herbert is no exception. He has adored Mrs. Forrester since the age of twelve, considering her the epitome of feminine charm and grace. However, as Niel comes of age, he is shocked to find that Mrs. Forrester is not all that she seems. Content warning for one use of the N-word (Part 1, Chapter 8). (Summary by cadastra)
New to recording? Before you begin recording for a project, we ask that you complete a 1-Minute Test.

Upload the recording to the tests folder, and post the link in Listeners and Editors Wanted, where an experienced LibriVox volunteer will check the file's technical specifications. This is not an audition - we just want to make sure your recording settings are correct. Detailed instructions regarding the 1-Minute Test can be found here. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. P.S. Check out our Newbie Guide to Recording.

  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.213611/page/n1/mode/2up
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard. DPL - cadastra.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will be the BC and DPL for this group recording of A Lost Lady by Willa S. Cather. A version of this book exists in the catalog already; however, it is a solo version, not a collaborative version.

I can MC this for you. I'll be back soon with a MW.

EDIT: MW is up. You might consider using the summary from the cataloged version to get you started. Projects seem to gain readers a bit easier when summaries are used. You may always change it again before cataloging.

Let me know if you have any questions.
