~14:57 - 15:12 repeat, "They are fond of consorting with other game, such as Burchell's and Grevy's zebras, Coke's hartebeest, and the beisa oryx, and are often met with at long distances from the nearest water."
Please cut out the repeat and upload the new file using the same name. Then repost here for me to check. You did an amazing job for a first contribution! Not everyone gets only one note on that first one.

Hi Brittany, just dropping you a note... I haven’t fully PLed either of your sections, but noticed in checker and from the little I listened that there’s distinct background buzz that should be cleaned. Also the beginning silences are longer than what’s asked for in the first post.
Wait to change the files that you’ve already submitted till I have PLed them (in case there’s anything else to fix), but I thought you might want to know so you can get your other section right on the first shot. Ask if you have any questions! No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!

PL OK now. Congratulations on your first PL OK section!mischiefmanaged wrote: ↑May 27th, 2020, 2:30 pm

*Beginning silence is around 1.5 sec, so it'll need to be trimmed. (Somewhere between .5 - 1 second is ideal.)
*Background noise is high (~44 dB). If you look at the file in Audacity, you'll notice that the beginning silence still looks fairly bumpy. That'll work great for a noise profile, then be sure to select the entire file for the actual noise cleaning.
*For the intro ~0:26 I noticed you have "Chapter 13 continued". To be consistent with the rest of the project, it should be 'Section 41, The Yak, The Bison, The Buffaloes, The Tamarau and Anoa, The Musk-Ox'
Please make the corrections and repost here, then I'll do a final PL to make sure everything is good. I hope this doesn't look overwhelming to you! And I apologize for not getting back with you sooner! You really do have a lovely voice, so I hope you'll be doing a lot more recordings! Lots of things will keep getting easier with time and experience, and it won't be long before you forget what all you went through getting to that point.
Thank you!

Hello there!
I found this project needing proof-listening of some section, and I wasn't sure if it has a DPL already... so I thought I'd ask!
Specifically, I saw that section 42 is "Ready for PL", so if nobody is doing that, I'll be glad to!
I must say I am new to LibriVox and haven't proof-listened before, but I hope that's feasible for me to do!
Thanks in advance!

Hello, Rennis. We indeed have a DPLer! When in doubt about it, take a look at the window in the first post. When the project has a DPLer, it says so, right above the list of sections: "This project has a dedicated proof-listener who will listen to all sections:". Projects without a DPLer do not have that message in the window.Rennis wrote: ↑May 30th, 2020, 2:02 pm Hello there!

*Beginning silences needs shortened, as it's currently ~1.2 sec.
*End silence needs lengthened to ~5 seconds. It's currently ~4.1 sec.
*Background noise needs another round of cleaning. If you have checker, you can enable the noise checking in validation. Between 24 & 35 dB usually sounds fairly clean, but use the numbers only as alerts to listen for noise, as there is such a thing as cleaning to distortion.
Other than that, this section is just perfect! Please make the specified corrections and upload the new file for spot checking. Feel free to ask here or PM me if you have questions on either of the sections.
Thanks,
~Rosebud
