Can I just say... This is so weird!

"The Tomb of Sarah"
The Insanity of Jones"
For quite a while, I had been considering doing any or all three of these for GhoHor.
Ah, the LV-GhoHor Universe provides...

Hi Daniel! I agree that this is the story from the Phantom Ship by Frederick Marryat. Nice!JachinandBoaz wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2020, 10:25 am Good morning -
I uploaded the following contribution to the share drive:
Title: The Were-Wolf
Author: H. B. Marryatt, possibly Frederick Marryat (1792-1848)

Just one edit needed if you'd like to correct the word, up to you: around 17:42, text is "the noble house of—; my master would insist", I hear "my father".
Let me know if you'll be doing the edit, or I can proceed to catalogue.

Fascinating story! And for a second attempt, you read very well! I think I can still hear some hesitation in your reading, but I think gradually you'll get more confident behind a microphone. And well done on doing such a long recording! Thank you for offering it, now in the Magic Window, marked PL OK!callisterp wrote: ↑May 22nd, 2020, 4:47 pm The Judge's House by Bram Stoker

I'll just mention I have entered the gutenberg ebook as text source, the text is the same, and gutenberg.org is our number one choice!

Hello Natalie! Welcome to Librivox and the Ghost and Horror collection!! Interesting story! Very nicely read, with the intensity in just the right places! Are you planning to read more of the story?nboulos wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2020, 8:58 am Four Weird Tales: The Insanity of Jones (Part I)

I have just one note regarding the text: There is a repeat around 03:49 : "For something in this way it was -- For something in this way it was that his mind worked." It should be easy to remove, but let me know if you need any hints on editing.
And one note on the filename: it's best to avoid capital letters, so we do all lower-case in filenames.
This collection has just been filled, with a couple of contributions before your post, so I have now opened the next collection #039. Would you upload your edited recording in the new thread here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=80305 using the correct filename (ghohor039 ...and all lower case)? Thank you! Let me know if there's any difficulty.

I made the changes and reuploaded it: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor038_werewolf_maryatt_dwd_128kb.mp3
As a sidenote, part of me wonders if this collection of short ghost stories was part of the mid-19th century scandal of magazines and publishers disregarding copyright laws and simply reworking an author's work to fit for their own project. That would account for the sloppy name of the author as H. B. Marryatt, which I was unable to find atteested in the information I read online about Captain Marryat.
