Huge thanks. After finishing 6, would you like to read more sections from this book?
Love gothic novels? Try Children Of The Abbey. Interested in legents? Try Legents Of Saints And Sinners. Interested in femenist fiction? Try Falkner.

Here is revised chapter 7

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/falkner_07_shelley_128kb.mp3
duration 24.49

I apologise for those mistakes. I found it difficult to read from the pdf version of the original that i had to download. For some reason ePub would not accept this book into the library.

Cheers

Jennifer

Hello Rita,
a nice clear recording  There are two minor errors in the section 8:
  • 0:43 - the text says "a state of feeling" while I hear "a sense of feeling"
  • 2:50 - the text says "onset they had driven" but I hear "onset that had driven"
And I'm happy to mark the section 9 as PL OK
Thank you,
Kudrna

corrected chp. 3 file

Thanks. Weezer
Weezer,
the silence in the begining should be something between 0.5 and 1 second and at the end there should be 5 seconds of silence – it seems you somehow inserted whole 30 seconds at each end; please reduce it so it meets the LibriVox standard.
And sadly, I don't see any changes to the parts I mentioned in my PL notes before – if you are unsure about how to do the editing, you can send me a private message (you'll see the button when you click on my profile). If you first delete the silence, the spots will be as mentioned in my original PL notes, which are quoted below.
Thanks,
Kudrna

Hello Weezer,
I've PLed your recording and here are some spots that need to be corrected:
  • the name should be falkner_03_shelley_128kb.mp3
  • the length of the silence in the begining should be somewhere between 0.5 and 1 second – it can be easily inserted :)
  • and I've noticed that you started with inserting corrected pieces of recording. That's great, I guess that almost everyone does it (especially if it's a long recording like yours). However, it needs to be done with tenderness to the original recording :D I use Audacity, and the way of editing that has worked the best for me so far, is to look for the gaps of silence, in which the bad part is included, and somehow mark it. Then I read the whole part again (it can even be a bit wider surroundings, to make it sound more natural) and copy and past the same part between the gaps of silence in the place of the original one, and then delete it. Also, if you amplify your recordings or apply some noise cleaning filter, it's good to apply it on the corrected piece too. This can make the corrections much smoother then trying to insert just the single corrected word. I've noted down the spots of your corrections that need to be made a bit better, preferably as I described above. It may seem like a long list but once you get the correction skill, it gets quite easy ;)
    • 02:03

    • 09:34
    • 06:19
    • 16:04

Thanks,

I see that you corrected the name and the volume at the end, however there are still the spots that remain unchanged:
At 5:35 a "palace" instead of "place" is said
At 0:38 and 14:09 there are parts that need to be re-recorded and inserted, as I wrote before.
Again, if you're unsure about how to do that, please send me a message or ask here.

Chapter 5 is PL OK  There were two letters missing in the name but I corrected it for you.

Thanks!

There's no need to apologise, these things happen quite often and that's why proof-listeners are there ;) I hear that for the original recording you probably used some noise cleaning filter - for the next time, it would be great to apply it also on the inserted parts so it sounds similar to the rest. But I think that it's ok to let it as it is now, take it just as a tip for the future ;)

Thanks,
Kudrna
