Hi, I think my volume might be a little low so I appreciate your feedback!

Using Audacity on Mac os using analog (?) headphone mic.

This is an unedited file, so no noise reduction applied.

Hi Emily,

Your test passes all the our technical requirements. Your volume is fine - At 90.9 db it is actually getting close to the higher end of our accepted range of 86-92 (89 is the target).

To judge in future whether you have the volume set correctly, you can download the checker program to check your volume after exporting to mp3 and before you upload your file.

If you prefer you can use the Replay Gain plugin in directly in Audacity to tell you how much your file needs to be amplified to get to 89 db. Instructions here:

This file doesn't have a lot of background noise, but if you want to reduce the background hiss a little in future recordings, here is a link to some tips on doing so. One pass using the default settings should be all you need.

Meanwhile, I am marking this OK. Head on over to the Readers Wanted Fora and find something that interests you to read. Have fun!
