The Black Cat Vol. 01 No. 06 March 1896 by Various ( - ).
This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/black-cat-01-06-mar1896-by-various/
The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.
This is the sixth issue, offering the following 5 stories:
"Eleanor Stevens' will", by Isabel Scott Stone / ''To let.'', by Alice Turner Curtis / "Of course - Of course not", Harry M. Peck / "The Marchburn mystery", A. Maurice Low / "Their colonial villa", by Charles Barnard
( Sonia)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Claiming is restricted to one section per reader, to have the maximum of different voices in this project.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/TheBlackCatV01no12189609/The Black Cat v01no06 (1896-03)#mode/2up
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

And a new Black Cat has started, only 5 stories this time, but I have a feeling they will be just as interesting as the previous ones. :9:

Just as a reminder, I want to keep this as a one-story-per-reader-project so we can have the maximum of voices in each magazine.

Nemo again asked me to choose for him, so I'll pen him down for Section 2 this time. Hope it was a good choice for you ;) And thanks for taking part again. 8-)

And now the project is open for claims !

oho, yes of course, Alan, welcome aboard :9: This is already the 6th issue of the magazine, I read all the stories so far (mostly as DPL) and I must say, they are really a great collection of unknown gems.

Happy to have you lend your voice to one of them. Thanks

I'm new to recording, but have done all the prep work. I was hoping to do section 3 if its still available?

hello Adam, welcome to the forum and this project in particular. Always thrilled to hear new voices :D

yes I can reserve you Section 3, and since you are a new reader, I would also need to open your personal reader page. Could you let me know under what reader name you want to go by ? (forum name, real name or pseudonym)

All the details for correct intro/outro and filenaming are listen in the first post, so please read carefully through that.

Also I saw that you still had some issues with your test: viewtopic.php?p=1720306#p1720306 the bitrate was wrong in the second test, although it was correct in the first one. :hmm: I hope you can find a way to tweak it back to LV standard ;) maybe you want to post another test there to check it out before you launch into a longer reading.

And then: have fun with your first section ! 8-)
