Historic Ghosts and Ghost Hunters by Henry Addington Bruce (1874 - 1959).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue! https://librivox.org/historic-ghosts-and-ghost-hunters-by-henry-addington-bruce/
The author describes popular ghost occurrences from a skeptical point of view, providing explanations based on recent scientific research (early 20th century), primarily in the field of psychology, like suggestion and hallucinations, using also his beliefs on mesmerism and telepathy. He finishes his book with a brief mention of ghost hunters and researchers into psychic phenomena. (Summary by Rapunzelina)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28699
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'd like to claim Section 1, "The Devils of Loudun."
Just a bit less feverish than the Ken Russell film version.

Yes, of course! Welcome to Librivox! Since it's your first time, you'll need to set yourself up with a password to access the Magic Window and be able to update the status of the recordings. When everything is fine with a recording, it's "PL OK" (Proof-listened and OK), otherwise there may be some "PL notes". Read this guide for proof-listeners for what things to note when listening: viewtopic.php?p=318667#p318667

And this guide for how to gain fist-time access into the Magic Window https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs/edit
After you set up a password, you'll be able to use that and your username to access the Magic Window from the link "BC Admin" below it.

It feels too much information on your first day, but I promise you, all will be fine! You'll enjoy it here! :D
Please ask if anything is unclear. This project has just started, so you have plenty of time to acquaint yourself with how things work!

Is there a specific name you'd like to be credited with in our catalogue or just the forum name?

Thank you! Welcome to Librivox! Since you are a new reader, let me know if you need any help, if anything is unclear in the guides for new readers. You could do the 1-minute test first, linked to in your welcome email, to check if any adjustments are needed in your recording setup.

Oh I beer a lot

Here is your catalogue page: https://librivox.org/reader/14305 ( we can also link to a personal URL of you'd like). It lists all projects you're involved in, so it might look a bit empty now, but hopefully you'll enjoy it here and gradually fill it up!
