I recorded a short story that was part of a collection, and was so taken by it, that I plan to re-record it for another collection.

These 2 collections are so different from each other, and are aimed at such different audiences, that someone browsing the catalogue for a certain "type" of thing, might well never come across this wonderful story.

And that would be a shame.
...and BTW...
I just now, accidentally, came across this very story, in my very own voice, posted on a for-profit youtube channel.
Need I add that any mention of Librivox was edited out?
(Yes, I know it's perfectly legal to do so.)
On the other hand... several listeners commented that they liked my anonymized narration. 8-)

I know  -- but I'm a minimalist when it comes to joining, subscriptions, accounts, etc... so no comments for me. :)

Louise, I have a youtube account. If you'll point me to your story there, I can leave a comment that it's taken from Librivox and is available for free from here.

If you send links around to monetised youtube channels, please do that via pm. Linking to these... people in a popular forum like ours is not a good idea (it will only increase their ranking and make them more visible. Surely the last thing we want. )

I've commented the following stories on that site: Elfwater, The Ignoble, The Case of Mrs Hillier, Lost in a Pyramid, and The Great Stone Face.

I've used this line, or something like it:
This story is from the free, public domain LibriVox recording of the Norman Douglas collection, available at https://librivox.org/unprofessional-tales-by-norman-douglas/

Just a positive on the subject from our emails
Dear LibriVox,

Good day!

I have been visiting your website for some time and in my opinion, you
are doing an amazing job. Well done!

I am writing you on behalf of a Non-Profit called Enyi (friend)
Foundation for Community Development (EFCD). We are based in Eastern
part of Nigeria - Enugu State. We carry out projects that support Early
Years and Primary Years Education. We promote literacy as this is fast
fading away in our society. We have a programme titled I-read programme,
which promotes reading among children.

We seek your permission, to upload some of the children audiobooks from
your website (https://librivox.org/) to the Resource page on our website
or be able to redirect people from our website to yours to access the
resources. We shall state that the audiobooks are from your page.

The target is that parents and/or children who visit our website can
have access to some audiobooks for FREE!

Our website is www.efcd.net.

We look forward to a favourable response from you.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
maxgal

How can you saythat, lurcherlover? - I'm truly enjoying your recording of The Clue of the Twisted Candle, and have no complaints!

I'm not sure which post I made that you are referring to but it must have been one of those where I said I had made a terrible recording. Whereas most of my recordings are probably OK to quite good, there have been one or two that have been less well narrated by me. Anyway, thanks for the Twisted Candle comment, I enjoyed recording it and it's great to hear that you are enjoying it! I'm trying to improve on the recordings all the time, and I think the recording quality technically is now about as good as I can get it, but I still work on the narration to try and edge it up.

I'm a terrier lover too, in fact I love all dogs. Our Lurcher is getting on a bit now and not quite as active as before, and even though we more or less match in age she is slowing down more than me. I miss the 5-10 mile walks we used to do in all weathers.

Looking back I think it was the first post I made where I said all mine were awful. It may have been a bit tongue in cheek or I might have been feeling bad about life on that day - not sure!
