Great, thanks! I did get my 1 minute test approved for a few months ago. Do I need to submit it again?
Would you display my name as Kasay? thank you.
Kasay, it looks like you still had some adjustments to make before your 1 minute test could be approved and that linny was still waiting for them, that is all I could find. So yes, if you could put it a link to your final test in this thread I will check it out quickly. It does look like your volume may be a bit low but we will tell from your test. Hang in there, we will get this technical stuff sorted out easily. :D

EDIT: Remember that the purpose of your 1 minute test is to have your recording set up adjusted for our requirements, volume, bit rate, etc, so that your future recordings will all be OK. If it is not right then everything you send in will need lots of corrections and it is best to start with the right settings, right?

Section 3 PL notes:
First of all, I absolutely love your reading voice, Lydia! I have just one PL note for you: The volume of your recording is too low at 85.2 dB. We aim for about 89 dB, with an acceptable range of 87-91 dB. Your file will need to be amplified by +4. In Audacity, select the whole recording. Click Effect > Amplify. In the Amplification box, enter the number 4. Verify that the file is around 89 dB using Checker, then reupload using the same file name. Post in this thread when you have uploaded the edited file. Thanks so much.

Hiya Cadastra,

Thank you so much for PL'ing that for me. Thanks also for your kind encouragement.

I have tried to Amplify it by 4 decibels, but when I do so the "Ok" button is greyed out. Would you know why that is?

Thanks,
Lydia

Probably you have a spike that does not allow you to amplify more than a few dB. Reduce that spike and you will be able to amplify.

Thanks for the helpful tip Phil. I think I have now been able to amplify this and here is the link below. For future reference, how would I reduce a spike?

EAsy peasy. You would use the compressor effect, it brings down those peaks and raises up the low areas a bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c. I use it on most of my recordings.

Section 10 is yours. We have no pronunciation guide, our budget for this project was all spent on recruiting recording stars like you. And of course our gumbo catering. However, Cheri would normally be pronounced like Cher-eeee. with the 'cher' like the singer. Candide is usually Can-deed with the accent on the deed. (my made up pronunciation guides) Zelie is your choice. have fun with it just keep it consistent through out the story. Trust me, no one will care if you tell the story well. Keep asking questions.

Hello there

May I volunteer for Chapter 7 - Hansel and Grethel if it's otherwise still unclaimed? Thanks.
