I have a question. For all the recordings I have done I have had the volume set a 89 and never had any comments about it. However the last one I did, before this one, it came out at 89.3 and the DPL said that it was 'kind of soft' and would I Amplify it, which I did, so this time I increased the volume to 90. Question is, what is the range wanted, and is this one too loud, or should I put it back to 89 or maybe 89.5. Any help given would be appreciated.

89 is ideal. Honestly, it sounds to me like that DPL is being too picky.

It is weird, though, that some people's 89 dB seem louder or softer than others' 89 dB to my ears. I don't know if it has to do with one's vocal timbre or what. *shrug*

When we go to catalog, there's a button in the process where we can adjust the volume. It magically adjusts things to be close to 89 dB, so if you upped the volume to, say, 91, it'd end up right back down at 89 anyway. (I think it does 1.5 dB intervals, so it may or may not change your 90 to 88.5. You could try 89.5 - it would leave that alone.)

I just peeked at the conversation in the other project. Apparently using MP3Gain isn't changing the volume on our end. She did say she got lower volume measurements than you did.

I'd suggest using MP3Gain (or ReplayGain, a plugin directly in Audacity) to judge the volume, then do an actual Amplify and re-export to get the volume up. It will definitely be set correctly then.

Very interesting. After I adjust the 83 (the reading MP3 gain gives me on the untreated file) to 89 or so in MP3 gain, and then listen to the one I upload to you I can really hear the difference. When I listen to the file, either on the website or just from the raw file before uploading it they sound the same as each other and much louder than they did before. Also, as I said, this is the first occasion where I got those comments. Let me know how this one sounds when I upped it to 90.

Volume on this one is OK.

8:15 - "withdrawn your confidence from me. quote/end quote" - stumble on this (said quote, then quickly after, end quote)

10:13 - "they find their servants lying for themselves" - "themselves" is cut off.

Hello Tricia,
I must admit that the sections with home power are difficult for me. I have recorded them without a break as I did not see "as on an enchanted flute" . Now my attempt to separate them is driving me crazy. Best case here is probably that I should re record and than go onto editing. Just keeping you clued in.

Oh, gee! You couldn't edit and listen for the enchanted flute, then separate them at that point? I'd hate to see the work wasted.

I know, possibly I will attempt to listen for the magic flute without "reading along".

Section 11:

9:04 - "...the Tenth threatened with excommunication" The name is cut off here at the very beginning of the sentence.

10:23 - "Carlotti followed Handel" (I think it's Carlotti, anyway) - again, the beginning is cut off.

12:49 - "whom he followed and admired".. repeated at 12:52
