Many thanks, Piotr, for this look at the famous Polish salt mines, mined since the 13th century per Wikipedia, and-designated UNESO World Heritage site and a Polish Historic Monument! :) Thanks also for the link to the photos. It sounds like it would be a fascinating place to see!

Bayard Taylor seemed to get around -

Intro title of work should be The world's story; a history of the world in story, song and art, ed. by Eva March Tappan Vol VI - you said from the history of all nations

12:40 and the little scamp amused himself by swinging his lamp, cracking his heels together, and rattling his stick along the sides of the shaft. Forgot to read cracking his heels together

Craig, Thought you might be interested in this, a new biography of Soren Kierkegaard that just came out: Philosopher of the Heart: The Restless Life of Soren Kierkegaard, by Claire Carlisle. Here is a review of the book https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/the-philosopher-who-rebelled-on-matters-of-the-soul/2020/04/30/36c2ca00-7d96-11ea-9040-68981f488eed_story.html

Thanks Sue :D

I've heard a few people mention the book
Philosopher of the Heart: The Restless Life of Soren Kierkegaard

Clare Carlisle has written a few books about Kierkegaard or his works.

I'll have to take a look :D

Hi Weezer, Welcome to LibriVox and to the Short Nonfiction Collection! :) It sounds as if you have some essays in mind to read for the SNF. The Essays of Elia look to be all available on Guntenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/293. I'm not sure which essay you have in mind to read (Lamb wrote a good many!), so if you would please post the source and the essay you're thinking about reading, I can make sure that it is in the Public Domain before you begin.

With regards to Washington Irving, the Sketchbook is also available on Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2048. It would be a good idea, again, to post here a link to the specific Irving essay you want to read from this source, as I see (from Wikipedia), that the Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon contains a mix of essays and short stories. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sketch_Book_of_Geoffrey_Crayon,_Gent. Only the essays would be suitable for the SNF. LibriVox has a separate collection for short fiction.

Once you've settled on what you want to read, you will want to follow the instructions for submitting your essay to the SNF, which you'll find at the beginning of this thread. You'll also want to use the LibriVox "Checker" app to check the "vitals" of your recording before submitting it to the SNF: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker. Checker is an easy to use "open source tool that looks for common problems with recordings for LibriVox... Checker saves time by checking contributions for common issues before files are uploaded."

The short nonfiction crew, myself the Book Coordinator, and our Dedicated Proof Listener Soupy (Craig), will be glad to answer any questions you may have about how to proceed. We look forward to your first recording for the Short Nonfiction Collection! :)

I happen to BC for the project The Spirit of the Age; Or, Contemporary Portraits by William Hazlitt (1778 - 1830)

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=78396

You're reading would fit there perfectly once you change the introduction to match that project and upload it to that project.
"Chapter 18 of The Spirit of the Age; Or, Contemporary Portraits by William Hazlitt. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say: " [Title in MW] For example: Chapter 18 Elia (Charles Lamb)—Geoffrey Crayon (Washington Irvine)

At the end of the section, say: "End of [Chapter 18]"

Weezer and Craig,

Weezer, Thank you for uploading your file! :) I see now it belongs in Craig's project The Spirit of the Age; Or, Contemporary Portraits by William Hazlitt (1778 - 1830). viewtopic.php?f=28&t=78396. Craig has given you the link to follow to get back to that project on the forum, and you will need to change your intro to fit into that project.

Of course, we'd also be happy to have you record something for the Short Nonfiction Collection when you have time! :)

Craig, If I'd been up to date on your other LibriVox projects, I would have seen the connection... I'm glad you were able to re-direct Weezer to The Spirit of the Age! :)
