I agree. I actually read the whole book put of general interest (I knew a bit in outline, but hadn't realised just how extreme so many people at the highest levels of government were).

And a bit of googling turns up some more on the author's life and his sad end:
https://www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org/cgi-bin/colorado?a=d&d=THD19050910-01.2.32&e=-------en-20--1--img-txIN%7ctxCO%7ctxTA--------0--

https://www.nytimes.com/1911/11/22/archives/kellogg-durland-ends-life-on-train-author-took-cyanide-of-potassium.html
Patrick, I have permission from the author of a biography about Kellogg Durland, to share it, also. There was much speculation about Durland's death, with three considerations: 1) a rather flimsy suicide claim. 2) an assassination by foreign entities not appreciative of his touring all over the U.S. lecturing on the subject of this book. 3) the murder theory explained in this biography: KELLOGG DURLAND (1881-1911) – KELTY AND BEYOND, by Hugh Hoffman

All in all, the author of The Red Reign is just about as intriguing, himself, as this book is.

Hey, Patrick - Section 39 is PL OK, wonderfully so.

Thanks so much!

Sections 19 and 20 are finally recorded and edited! It has been hard to find quiet times to record these days...

Hi there,

I started to PL your recording, but found an error that needed to be changed. The actual chapter in the book is Chapter 13, but on both of your recordings, you say Chapter 8. Is this something that could be changed please?

Thank you :)

Hi- I was just doing a quick check to see if I had pl notes to take care of, and I noticed that my section 35 submission was never put into the mw. It’s next to last post on p13, Apr. 20. I know once a new page starts, it’s easy to miss stuff! :)

Hi there,

I just proof-listened to your recording for this section. There's a little bit of distortion throughout- is there any way that you could check and/or change the volume level on your recording please, as I think this is what is causing it to happen?

Thank you :)
Hey there, just checked - it was at 90.9 dB so I lowered it to 89 dB. If it still sounds distorted, I can re-record as I'm not sure what else to try tech-wise.

RitaBoutros wrote: April 18th, 2020, 12:43 pm Thanks for the recommendation Lynette. Yes, I do listen to Librivox (audiobooks from the library) and in fact, that's how I found out about volunteering! I would love to do it professionally.

Hi there,

I just PL'd section 27, but I can't seem to find the post with the link on it!

Everything is fine, apart from the title of the book- it's an "adventurous year", rather than just "year" by itself. Is there any chance you could change this please?

Thank you :D
