Alice, before you begin recording for a project, we ask that you complete a 1-Minute Test using the correct technical specifications, upload the recording to the tests folder, and post the link in Listeners and Editors Wanted, where an experienced LibriVox volunteer will check the file. This is not an audition - we just don't want you to spend exorbitant amounts of time recording at the wrong volume, etc. Detailed instructions regarding the 1-Minute Test can be found in the LibriVox wiki here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test Once your 1-Minute Test has been approved, you are welcome to record Section 4. I will reserve it for you in the Magic Window above.

What name or pseudonym would you like to appear under in the LibriVox catalogue? You can use your real name, forum username, or a pseudonym. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Section 5 PL notes:

The silences from 0:21-0:27, 26:13-26:29, and 26:22-26:32 are a bit long. Usually, we require only 2-3 seconds of silence after the intro and before the outro. After the outro at the very end of the file, 5 seconds of silence will suffice. The only other issue is that the file name is missing an underscore. The file name should be "heartofdarkness_5_conrad_128kb.mp3." Otherwise, your recording is perfect and the technical specifications are spot-on. I love your reading voice!

Please shorten the above silences and reupload using the correct file name. Post in this thread when the file is ready for spot PL, and include the new file duration with the link. Thank you!

Thank you for the editing notes, I've changed it and hopefully it's all correct!

Just the Listeners and Editors Wanted Forum is sufficient. One of our experienced volunteers will be around in the next day or two to give you feedback.

Hey ! I'm so sad to tell you that I accidentaly spilled water on my computer so it's ruined for now so I won't be able to record it at least for this next week so I don't know if it's not better to give my section to another person because I don't want to delay the project!

Alice, that is terrible! I'm so sorry to hear that. A family member of mine spilled coffee on her laptop. Suffice it to say that it was a sad day for both the computer and its owner. As far as the delay goes, I generally allow readers 1-2 months from the claim date before orphaning the section unless an extension is requested. You claimed on April 24, so your section is due by June 24. Let me know if you need an extension beyond that date. Thanks!
