(SOLO) The Basic Bible, Old Testament by S.H. Hooke (1874-1968) .

The Old Testament, translated by an American committee lead by S.H. Hooke, using Basic English, a simplified English vernacular developed by linguist Charles Kay Ogden for use in teaching English to non-native speakers and as an international auxiliary language. Basic English utilizes a limited vocabulary of around 850 English words. ( Mark Penfold)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/101871696
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

FYI, your file names won't sort correctly if you're changing the Bible books for each one. :) I'd recommend:

oldtestament_01_basicbible_128kb

If you want to put in the book name, then this (although it will be a bear for your MC to catalog, unless you make sure the file names are perfect over the whole project:

oldtestament_01_basicbible_genesis_128kb
or
ot_01_basicbible_genesis_128kb

In general, the file name must have [projecttitle]_[sectionnumber]_[author/Bibleversion]_128kb
and if you want to stick something unusual in it (in other projects, this would be the reader's initials or something like that), it would be tacked on right before the _128kb.

Hi, Tricia! Thank you for the tip! I've decided on the simplest form---"oldtestament_01_basicbible_128kb". I think that definitely makes the sorting process much easier!!

Oh, and one more question:

Since the project will have 124 sections, how will that factor into the filenames?

Oh, yeah. Make 'em all 3 digits. Thanks for remembering.

I'll leave this a couple days and see if another MC adopts it. If not, I'll do so. But since I have a fair amount of projects already, I'll see if someone else wants to do it first. :)

MW setup. Since you lasted read the only change I can think about is you do not need to add metadata - the catalguing process does that
Lomond added as DPL

I have actually forgotten what you mean by "metadata". Can you clarify what that is?

Thanks!

It was the ID tags on each file - we used to need file title. book title and author and it is still in the template but I removed it from there :D

There's a crew putting up siding on our duplex, and they're making a lot of noise, so I will start recording when they're finally done. It may be a couple of days.

Alright....I will be uploading a couple of shorter books in the next day or two. I have the first section (Genesis 1-10) recorded and ready for editing, but I thought I'd have at least one or two of the short ones posted so I can stay ahead of this project.
