Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

I love this for it's sarcasm, humour and disrespect. His mistress was reputed to be a prostitute at this time and she was ethnic (black African?). But in the end he really did love her, and that is extremely touching.

Gurjas
Lovely choice of a poem as you first Librivox recording! This is now marked PL OK in the Magic Window

And this is your Reader Page in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/reader/14104 Let me know if you'd rather something else for your catalogue name, I've used Gurjas. Welcome to Librivox! I hope you'll enjoy it here!

PS: I wanted to comment on the filename because it has a double .mp3 ending. If you are using Audacity, you don't need to add the suffix, because Audacity adds it automatically.

I went on a bit of a Stephen Vincent Benet binge this month -- he's quite wonderful, still a teen when he wrote most of these (he turned 20 the year it was published).

All poems by Benet (1898-1943)

Hi there,

It's been a while since I recorded anything so I hope I've managed to follow all the guidelines correctly. Do let me know if there's anything amiss.

I owe you one last poem for this month so here goes. A very vivid proclamation against tyranny and how far people can go to save their independence, by the example of Russia burning down Moscow to defeat Napoleon. I loved the spirit in the powerful imagery.

Welcome to Librivox and the Poetry Collection! You now have a Reader Page is the catalogue, you can access it by clicking your name-link in the Magic Window. It lists all projects you've read for, so it might look empty now, but hopefully you'll have fun here and make many recordings!
Thank you for this contribution, which is PL OK and in the Magic Window!

Thank you for your two contributions! Lovely reading, I think I'm intrigued by the accent!
Just wanted to draw your attention to the filename, because the format is very important for the cataloguing procedure. It's OK for this one, I can fix the ending _1, but I'm letting you know, because sometimes errors in filenames are so easy to miss..
