  Here we go again with another by Gilbert on his own without Sullivan. This time it is definitely funny rather than the pathos of the just completed Broken Hearts.
  
  Gender neutral, of course, and Sonia as our DPL will help you rrroll yerrr rrr's as half of you pretend to be Scots. (The Scots dialect is written into the text - for example, see the summary above.)
  
  
  
  
  
  1. Is there a deadline?
     We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
     To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

According to my catalog page, I think I've handed in all my overdue roles now (I've recorded Æschinus for Adelphi and will edit tomorrow, but it's technically not overdue as yet). I know Sonia hasn't PLed them yet, but can I tentatively request Cheviot Hill? You can make the claim official when the other files are PL OK, it's up to you.

hi there and welcome to the drama forum

so, yes, in a nutshell you assessed the job quite well. A while ago I compiled a list of some special drama rules to make it all more clear, so here they are:

1) you don't have to read an intro or outro disclaimer, this will be done by the narrator. Instead, record your voice credit at the beginning of the file, which here should be: "Belvawney, his friend, read by skypigeon" (or whatever your "reader name" is)

2) then browse through the text and record all the lines you have to speak. For small roles it may not be necessary to read the whole play (this role is a bit bigger though, so a grasp of the situation may help in being more dramatic). In any case, it would be good to read at least a bit around your lines, see what the others are saying, so you can better "react" to them. Just be as expressive as you can in your role.

3) if there are pointers in the text qualifying your voice, like [laughs] or [sighs], an added bonus would be that you act those out in your reading, if possible, to make it all more interesting

4) and most importantly: please leave enough space between each of your speeches, preferably 2-3 seconds. Even when you have the stage directions in the middle of your speech (for example: [sits down]), also leave 2 seconds of pause there, because our editor later on has to copy all your parts and paste them into his master file and it's helpful if he has enough space to fiddle with
