The Heart of a Mystery by L. T. Meade (1854 - 1914) and Robert Eustace /1854-1943).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/the-heart-of-a-mystery-by-meade-and-eustace/

The Heart of Mystery by L. T. Meade and Robert Eustace was published in 1901 in six installments in the Windsor Magazine, Vol. 14. The stories relate the adventures of a young Englishman summoned to the deathbed of an old friend in Paris who subsequently finds himself embroiled in a web of danger, espionage and intrigue. ( J. M. Smallheer)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://hdl.handle.net/2027/nyp.33433096051671?urlappend=;seq=11
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Jo,
I'd like to be your DPL for this project. I'm downloading section 1 now and I'll be back later with PL notes.

Cheers,
Betty

Edit!

Section 1 is PL OK! I took the liberty of updating the MW to mark section 1 as OK.

Section 2 is uploaded. There is a noise around 17:21 that I couldn't cleanly edit out. Please let me know if you find it distracting, and I will record the sentence. Thanks!

I will probably continue to split the chapters as I go along so the files stay under 30 min. I'll adjust the section compiler accordingly.

Hi,
Section 2 is PL OK.
That noise you mentioned was barely noticeable, no need to redo anything.

Section 5 is PL OK!

Since I am of Portuguese descent, I'll disagree with the statement in this section about Portuguese women being unattractive....
