You're right. It's a peaceful book about a simpler time. Very calming. But we can't go back.

We still need to gin up a summary of some sort. Would you like to tackle that, Kristine, or shall I?

We can't go back of course, and I am not sure I'd like to go back permanently, but we can enjoy the book and that is already something very good. :)
Would be nice if you could conjure up the description.

How about something like this for a summary:

John Richard Jefferies (1848-1887) wrote of country life, natural history, and agricultural practice at a time when the industrial revolution was bringing great change to long-settled patterns of English life. In this book, a work of fiction, he aims to tell us something of "the former state of things before it passes away entirely.”

This is a gentle book with a keen eye for the beauty of the countryside, the uncultivated bonuses of plants and flowers; the antics of the birds and wild animals; and the agricultural practices, superstitions, and great generosity of the simple country folk who live on or about the Great Estate of the title.

Suggestions?

Hi, Kristine.

I can't figure out how to add keywords. Perhaps you can do it as MC. I suggest "Natural history" "Country life" "Victorian England" plus whatever you think we should add.

Summary looks very good!!! Sums up the essence of the book very nicely.

I added the keywords, only a MC can do that after the stage of the initial project set-up.

So we are all set so far. I will most likely listen to the remaining sections this evening.

Kiki :)
