My Flirtations by Ella Hepworth Dixon (1857 - 1932).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/my-flirtations-by-ella-hepworth-dixon/

Many novels, most notably Hannah Webster's The Coquette, focused on how terrible it is for a woman to flirt before her marriage. "I did not speak 20 sentences before sir Robert proposed to me", explained Lady Bidulph while teaching her daughter how to court properly in "Memoirs of Miss Sidney Bidulph". A coquette must be a fool, wicked, and immoral. But Peggy is none of these. She sees things as they are, sometimes too much for her own good, and flirts with men she finds interesting. She decides to tell about them, from her point of view. The feelings, the reasons they did not keep in touch, and her "notions" about them. This is her way to examine late Victorian society including the lives of other oppressed minorities. This novel is considered semi autobiographical. - Summary by Stav Nisser.
Note to my future MC: again, I found a fully accessible version of this novel so I can set up the mw.
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/myflirtations00dixoiala/page/n10/mode/2up
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Good morning Miss Stav and Rapunzelina.

This books sounds like fun and I was wondering if I could do it as a solo. I love autobiographies or first person reading. :) However I wouldn't be able to begin for 2-3 weeks because I need to finish one of two projects I am presently working on first.

Please let me know if that works for you or not. No problem if not *smile*. By the way I have a DPL if it's a go.

Thank you! HAPPY SUNDAY!!!

Hay, how lovely. Sure, you can take it as a solo. As it is your solo, you can take as much time as you want. I can serve as dpl.
Stav.

Hi Stav and Rapunzelina!!!

I just uploaded 7 more sections and updated the MW to reflect that. However It has just occurred to me that I am not the BC and probably should not have done that. My excuse is that I was able to access the MW automatically without thinking...am so used to being BC on my solos. Let me know what I should do in the future please.

I pushed to complete more sections because I won't be around for about 10 days. Like many I am heading home back to Canada at the end of this week.

Hopefully you and yours are symptom free of this dreadful COVID-19 and will remain so. Thinking of you all during these scary and stressful times.

Stay SAFE!!! :)

I am so sorry for ignoring your post, Celine!
I don't want to presume, but I would guess that we librivoxers are naturally inclined to seclusion (we want our peace and quiet to read, record, or listen to books) so probably statistically safer from viruses :)

Now to answer your post, since this is now your solo project, you are the BC indeed, so you were right to update the MW yourself

Did you manage to get back home?

Thank you, and stay safe, too!

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I am so relieved to hear from you. :D

I flew back to Canada last night and am happy to be home. I am in isolation as so many of us are and very grateful that thanks to the Librivox community I will have something to keep me sane (or close to it teehee).

Stay well!!!!!

Hi, you were right to update the mw. But I missed everything because you did not post in the thread a lot. So I will listen to everything tomorrow.

Thank you. I am so happy to hear from you too.

Please don't feel you have to rush Stav - there's no need. I'll let you know every time I post new ones in the future.

Take care of YOU!
