Religion And Health by James Joseph Walsh (1865 - 1942).
Nobody who values knowledge concerning the mysterious relation between holy living and bodily health should be without this book... In the introductory chapter and the one following we find the strong presentation of his thesis on the everlasting reality of religion. The chapter on Prayer, marked by absence of psychological speculation, treats practically of the naturalness and good sense of the constant habit of prayer, and of the value of prayer in all psychoneurosis....The chapter on the Bible and Health is of especial interest, with its argument that the sanitary laws of the Jews could have been no outcome of human development, but rather of Divine origin....The wide reading, extended experience, and specialized scholarship of the writer certify to the value of anything from his pen, and when we find a work of this kind as simple as a primer and as attractive as a story, we may well offer thanks for the boon. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

AFTER recording Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide. Save files as
128 kbps MP3
religionandhealth_##_walsh_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. religionandhealth_01_walsh_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
To clarify, please read all the footnotes in the following format:
After reading the whole sentence(s) where the footnote mark occurs, say,
"Footnote [number]. [Content of footnote] End of footnote [number]."
After a short silence (~1 sec), you may continue reading the main text.

Hello, I'd like to read section 0, let me know if you need anything from me first. Thanks.
Welcome to LibriVox!
Have you decided whether you are going to upload a second test here? viewtopic.php?f=21&t=78670
Once you have cleared the test, please let me know by posting in this thread again. I'll put you in the magic window for the introductory section straight away.

Hi.
I've recorded Chapter 1 (as a single file for now). The divisions given in MW are actually for Chapter 2.
Where do you want me to split Chapter 1? I suggest between Ampere ("... If he thought much, he loved more." ) and Ohm ("Ohm, after whom another of the units of electricity is named, was another of the scientists who realized very clearly the existence of Providence".)
A big thank you to both of you!
I've updated the MW for sections 01 and 02 as per your suggestion.
Seems like this project is getting some good progress!
