COMPLETE: The Chimney Corner by Harriet Beecher Stowe -jo
PL Notes Section 12
2:15 twisted, tortured, woven and wound, should pronounce wound to rhyme with sound.
34:08 not one woman in twenty wears her own hair, you say years
35:53 is there but one style of beauty?, you say anyone, (could pass but it gave me pause)
I want a wig! Maybe even a "waterfall".

Thanks Kathleen, 11 is PL OK
12 still says wound at 2:15, as an injury. Should be wound, (rhymes with sound), as she wound her hair around and around. Other 2 fixes are good.

What a beautiful chapter, heart rending and yet hopeful. Stowe is amazing how she weaves hope into desolation and loss. Thanks for reading it. Good job!

The only thing that caught my attention was your pronunciation of "adroit" as tho it were a French word -- which it originally was, I dare say. I've normally heard it pronounced so as to rhyme with Detroit.

Thanks, Kyle. I'll put you in for 10.
Just so you know the jist of the story, Mr. and Mrs. Crowfield entertain guests in their home (the Chimney Corner) and discuss social issues of the day (just after the Civil War). The narrator is Mr. Crowfield, referred to as "I", and his wife usually does a bunch of the talking. Of course we know that this is Harriet Beecher Stowe's way of giving her opinions on all these topics.
Enjoy, and I look forward to listening.

P.S. May contain a ringing phone. Wasn't sure how to deal with it.

Thank you, Kyle.
I am curious what makes all those distracting knocks in the background throughout the text? Not asking you to change it here, but you should figure out the source and eliminate it on future recordings. Here are numerous places where you could clip it out, and/or replace it with a bit of quiet from the last 5 seconds of the file: 12:35, 14:54, 15:55, 16:50, 17:17, 18:19, 19:12, 19:49, 21:05, 21:30, 22:40, 27:50
TIP: When you make deletions, it changes the positions of all the other citations. So it's best to do them from back to front of the file, and after all other edits are made.
Here are some more places which need your attention:
:34 said Jenny is missing. Hint, you might can copy the "said Jenny" at 1:00 and paste it in. This might or might not match up better than recording it afresh.
4:19 invalids should be pronounced correctly as IN- va-lids (sick people). They are not in-VAL-ids, a completely different word!!!
7:57 despotism, you say depo-tism. That is not a word.
11:10 The things that draw young people, young is missing
11:23 its first charm, you say lurst
15:05 there is moreover, you say however
25:02-25:07 huge volume spike and sounds like something as fallen over.
26:32 Not long since, you say Hot long since
When you upload your corrected file, be sure the file name is exactly as shown in the First Post. Best policy is to copy and paste, for any misnamed file can't be incorporated into the book. (author's name should be hbstowe). The MC or I could correct it later, but it is easier/safer if the reader does this correctly from the beginning.
Also, please state the file length when you upload a file. Example
