Ok, moving us over to the Languages other than English forum, Michael!

ETA: just a suggestion: add a link to the relevant posts below on the first post, so it is easier for people just to click and go straight to it, instead of scrolling down.

Hi all,
my name is Riccardo, I am Italian and I will be more than happy to join this project

A couple of questions:
- Can I read a poem not listed in the previous posts?
- How many poems can I read within this anthology? Is there a maximum number?

Grazie e ciao!
Riccardo

Kazbek wrote: February 10th, 2020, 8:40 am Great. Thank you, Leni! I'll ask a native speaker to verify all our Italian efforts when one arrives. :D

I'd like to to follow TriciaG's recommendation of including a date as the second element of the filename for chronological sorting. She suggested the format ipc_[year]_[poemtitle]_128kb.mp3. Can we have something like this?

adpi_####_[inizio del titolo]_128kb.mp3 (tutto minuscolo) dove #### è l'anno di nascita dell'autrice (e.g. adpi_1485_ombrosocolle_128kb.mp3)

Also, some of the sources I found seem to be available only on Google Books (free). I understand that there's a concern that readers outside the US may not be able to access them. If that's the case I could upload the text to Google Drive, as was just done for another project, or simply transcribe it in the discussion, if the poems are short. Since you are in Brazil, could you check the following?

Thanks,
Michael
P.S. Also, I think we need a collection MW, with columns for author and text URL, right?
Hi,
I'm Riccardo, native Italian from Milan, and I can help in reviewing any Italian-native expressions that you might need... Happy to help.
I have also just posted that I will be happy to contribute in reading a few poems.
Ciao!

Certo, puoi leggere qualsiasi poesia dentro i limiti della collezione (scritta in italiano da una donna e disponibile in una fonte di dominio pubblico), e quante vuoi. The more the merrier! :D

Hi there!
I would like to read a few poems from

Gemme, o Collezione di poetesse italiane antiche e moderne dal 1290 al 1855, opera per cura e studio di Luigi Cancrini (1855):
https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_H_4_qDMMO5AC/page/n3/mode/2up

The first one being "Che cosa sia Amore", authored by Gaspara Stampa (page 18 of the book of page 32 of the pdf file).
Can I go ahead and record? If yes, I'll do it and post it here.

Thanks!
Riccardo

Hi Riccardo,

Yes, perfect! Please see the file-naming standard in the first post of this project, if you haven't already. This recording would be uploaded under the name adpi_1523_stampa_checosasiaamore_128kb.mp3

Thanks!

Hi Riccardo,

Thank you, and congratulations on being the first contributor to the collection! :D

I have just one PL note:

(1:01) I hear "sempre mal pensieri" instead of "sempre mai pensieri"

It's not an unreasonable reading. I see that the line is actually printed the way you read it in a couple of editions. Let me know if you want to re-record this word or keep the current recording. It's up to you.

I hope you can contribute other poems!

I also hope that you and yours are doing ok in this crisis.

Hi Michael,
first of all thanks for your thoughts about this difficult situation. It is difficult indeed, but luckily we are all fine.

Regarding the line that you mentioned, I also found "sempre mal pensieri" in other editions, and it makes much more sense to me in terms of meaning: "always bad thoughts" is more aligned with the general tone of the poem, which goes about Love being a noxious thing, rather than "always never thoughts", which does not fit too much.
I'd keep the current recording if you agree...

I have already identified a few more poems to read, from the same source, so stay tuned!

Thanks and speak to you soon!

Hi everyone!
I'm native italian and I'd like to join this project.
It's my first recording  so I think it is better for me to start with a short project...
