Hello. Welcome to LV!

You should have received an email when you signed up to walk you though some of the first steps.

Spend some time on our wiki. It's a wonderful resource. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

When you are ready to record, please complete the preliminary test to ensure your recording settings are correct. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Once you pass the preliminary then we recommend starting with some recordings in the short works area until you are comfortable with the editing process.

Have fun and thank you for volunteering!

I had some difficulty with getting the right amplification. I have used Checker and it seems alright now. Please let me know if it-requires more correction.

Cheers

Jennifer,
Section 44 is PL OK. Lovely work, once again.

The volume is within range so I wouldn't worry about it anymore.

I am sorry .
I have just uploaded section 45 but realise I have made the same mistake and called it chapter 7 not 12.
Bother the Romans !

I will re-upload as soon as I have changed it .

Dear Linny

I am somewhat bemused by Part 4 of Chapter 12 - the MW indicates it is 3680 words - that is more than Part 3. However recording up to but not including the foot notes it is much shorter. I have not included foot notes in previous chapters and am unsure quite what to do here?

I will edit what I have recorded and await your advice before I upload .

That's my mistake. I got carried away with the highlighting when I was doing the word counts and didn't take the time to actually look at what I was highlighting. How does 2742 words sound?

Hello Jennifer,
Looks like I started something with the Roman numerals.

Section 45 is PL OK. I don’t understand why the women couldn’t go to the gravesite. Was even that forbidden to us?

Here is section 46

duration 15.33

I became disorganised ! and up loaded the file without the correct ending I am afraid. This one is now correct I hope.
I have no idea why we were excluded from cemeteries. I can find no reference to women being excluded and presume that it was in the particular circumstances probably the bad weather that was the culprit.
In those days women were intimately involved with washing and laying out of bodies so excluding them from the outside ceremony seems unlikely .

Cheers

Jennifer

Happy to do more but maybe I have outstayed my welcome and done too much of this book. I know as a Librivox listener it is a pleasure to have different readers throughout a book.

We'll go with bad weather. That seems likely and a much nicer option than being banned for being women.
